“Fantastic New Year's Eve!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2014

We had a great New Year's Eve with a fantastic 5 course meal. The service was excellent and we all enjoyed a dance afterwards.

“Perfect location and nice setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

This is basically a great place which I have re-visited several times the last 10 years. They have lost some of the edge in the food however it is still good. A beatiful building in an ski-and sun convinient and great setting. They have expanded the concept substancially with a snack bar "tucked away" from the mail outdoor patio of the restaurant. There is a very ambient outdoor bar added. Most of the staff here are really nice and helpful.

“Not as good as we'd hoped.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2013

This restaurant has a good reputation, but I'm afraid they let us down badly when we went there one evening in August.

We had booked a table for 8pm and it wasn't very busy. We placed our orders and ordered wine. Three meals were brought to the table with the explanation that ..."we ran out of chips so we've given you potatoes instead". Nobody had bothered to check with us first - unfortunately I cannot abide garlic and these spuds were swimming in it!

They took my plate away and brought it back with some sad-looking salad chucked on where the garlic butter still swilled around. By this time the fourth meal still had not appeared. Eventually, after making a fuss it was delivered, but by then the other meals were cold. I didn't eat mine and the other three only picked at theirs.

We complained to the waiter who offered us free desserts - but we didn't wish to eat anything else there. Eventually my friend went to find the manager (he didn't bother to come to our table) and he gave us the bottle of wine on the house with his apologies about the service and the chips. But too little, too late and very unprofessional. I would have helped if he was smartly dressed as well, rather than just an old pair of trousers and a shirt.

My questions are why, when the restaurant isn't busy is it so difficult to organise service and if they had run out of chips earlier in the day, why didn't they get some more to cover the evening's dining. Surely, NO restaurant in France EVER runs out of chips does it??? (and they could have walked down and bought some from the Spa shop in Arc1950 that afternoon/early evening, or even to Mellie's Diner after we ordered to get some ready cooked!).

To finish the evening off, we had to walk home down a steep, rough piste (not so smooth without snow cover!) which was totally unlit. Fortunately we had torches on our mobile 'phones).

“Lovely!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013

I've visited twice, in winter during a ski holiday and in summer for mountain walking. Lovely restaurant with amazing views. Food is great, atmosphere is fun, and the staff are all very friendly. Wish it was closer so I could visit more often!

“moonlight piste walk to hearty traditional fare by fire side”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2013

this is a busy piste side cafe, bakery restaurant by day but by night thrice weekly becomes a more beguiling romantic destination . its accessed by a short walk from les arcs 2000 or by skidoo much more exciting for kids of all ages , by torch or lantern light.
the food is traditional enough savoie fare hearty cheese and meat with a twist, they do meals complete inside a 'hovis' loaf with sauce such as chicken or vegetarian
the kids favourite is their own miniature oven and cooking utensils on the table playing out their muppet swedish chef routine , this would be unthinkable in health and safety riddled uk or usa but the french laissez faire attitude seems to inspire them to good behaviour! the melted cheese and fresh bread filled up all heartily
the staff were pretty child tolerant and friendly by french standards so a good time was had by all
