“Christmas 2013”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

Booked this hotel knowing some of the negative comments about rooms, noise etc so went with an open mind. On arrival our room choice (double) was not as booked with Crystal (Crystal fault) but hotel sorted this instantly so 10 out of 10 for that.

Rooms, yes small but remember this was a purpose built ski hotel back in the 80's so expectations then are not what we expect today. The advent of all inclusive and half board summer holidays with better and better facilities is not replicated in the ski world (yet), however the room was ok, warm (when heating turned on by management) clean and dry.

Noise, yes some but after the first night the noisy revelers and kids were suitably quite after a days skiing, so not an on-going problem.

Food, as others have said good for such a venue and no complaint on this, other than the usual dash by some to be in first to clean up food as if it were rationed.

Hotel itself was in need of external maintenance (double glazing in bedrooms shot) but otherwise was a reasonable base for a ski week.

In terms of the location, good, and staff, very good I would rater this hotel as very good, but mainly for these reasons.

Room Tip: Do voice concern to staff as they will act on this and resolve the problem quickly

Excellent location. Lovely terrace to enjoy the afternooon sun and a hot chocolate.

Fairly basic room (but pretty standard for a ski holiday) down a corridor that smelt of cigarette smoke. Twin beds.

Wifi didn't reach to our room and had to sit in the foyer/bar area.

Lots of buffet options in the evenings in the restaurant. Great food.

Spent a week here end of January 2013. Excellent week. Hotel very good, staff helpful
Couldn't get better for access to the slopes - step outside the door and you can ski away (with carpet tow to bring you back) - and wow the skiing is excellent. You can ski all the way to La Plagne (with extended area pass), with tremendous variety in runs.
Minor niggles:
(1) Can't get on wifi except at very quiet times (early morning, later in evening)
(2) Occasionally they would run out of a specific dish at b/fast or dinner - sometimes not replaced.
(3) Was a wee bit of a zoo at dinner to be honest, with lots of people descending at once, but there was always plenty food, you can go back for more (important on a ski holiday), and I was very happy with the range of choices. Breakfast was great too.
(4) A real zoo getting out the hotel - lots of people leaving at 3 or 4am, lifts completely full, and ended up hauling luggage and skis up 7 flights of stairs to get out!

Like some of the other reviewers, I was concerned given the tone of the reviews here, however we really had an excellent holiday. If you want to "eat, sleep and ski" you will have a great holiday here.

Room Tip: stay away from the top level - top level is reception and bar - so lower down is quieter

Having read some of the reviews prior to leaving, we were very sceptical about what to expect of the L'aguille rouge hotel in Arc 2000. However, these doubts were erased as soon as we arrived. First of all, the location is brilliant. On a morning you would grab your skis from the locker room, walk up one set of stairs and you are onto a gentle slope leading down towards about 3 chair lifts and one gondola, which was ideal to say the least. We had the paradiski unlimited pass which allowed us to access all the lifts in Les Arcs, Villaroger, Vallandry and La Plagne. I would recommend this pass to anyone that would be willing to spend all day, every day skiing. La Plagne, in particular, was brilliant. Amazing views.

Food was also very good. Breakfast started at half 7 and stopped serving at half 9. Every day they had cereals, bread, fruit, croissants etc. And also most days they had scrambled egg, bacon and sausages.

Dinner was great with so much variety.Desserts were fantastic.

Rooms were small, as expected. All tv channels are French. Wi-Fi was available in the reception, however it lasts 30 minutes until you have to log on again, no real problem.

Only criticism however was that it was very difficult to find your way around the complex. Sometimes we found our selves walking around in circles.

Overall, a great stay in Les Arcs and will most likely be coming back again.

Just returned from a week of skiing holiday in L'aiguille Rouge, Les Arcs 2000 France.
I think it was more than I expected for the money I paid. The hotel position it couldn't be better. And the ski slopes are to dream for. I bet the people who complaint didn't come here for skiing. The food was excellent in the evening, a bit too much I could say, but was a lack of variety in the morning. If I'd work there I would move some of the salads hams and cheeses from the evening in the morning. But the most I'd love some real eggs in the morning. But this wasn't an issue, it was still something to eat. The bar staff was really good, also the entertainment was good. Yes the rooms weren't very spacious, but what you need a big room for if are all day out? It was cosy and worm.
Didn't have any problems with the reception stuff, maybe didn't understand me sometimes but still tried to help. I liked it so much that I intend to return next year with my family and family friends!!.

Thanks for the lovely time!!I'll see you next year!!

Room Tip: We stayed on the first floor and was great.

We traveled two couples for a week of ski in Belambra on March 28. We were very concerned before coming after reading some of the reviews here but i must say that as soon as we arrived we knew we would have a great time. first, the hotel has the best location by far in Arcs 2000 (and far better than any hotel in Arcs 1950), It is a clssic ski in ski out - closest to the gondola to Arcs 1950 and after a day of skiing you have the lift to take you back to the ski room, amazing, we enjoyed it very much and after seeing each morning all the other guests carrying their equipment to the start of the slopes we knew we picked well. the hotel is very nice, the rooms are small but i don't think a couple needs more than that. We found the food great, lots of choices and food was always fresh and hot. free wine at dinner was great. we slept on the 7th floor and had no noise at night. the one thing that bothered us a bit was the fact that there were LOTS of kids in the hotel but if you go to dinner after 1930 it's fine...wifi was ok for us, we didn't come for it on rush hour so it was great...
would definitely recommend and won't hesitate to come back, thanks for a great vacation!

Similar feedback to previous reviews. Room was adequate, a bit cramped with one bed needing pulled out at night as it was under a shelf. WC was clean and functional, shower was always hot enough. Room was warm and very dry. We all woke through the night with blocked noses and dry mouths. Keep a bottle of water handy!
Breakfast and dinner we couldn't fault. Always plenty of choice available and empty dishes replenished regularly.
Bar prices were steep but same across the whole resort. Happy hour from 5 till 6.30 only applied to beer. Wait for free wine at dinner if you're on a mission!
Made a baguette at breakfast to take for lunch, never challenged.
Not much else to do unless u like scrabble monopoly. Free wifi at reception but it can be slow when busy.
Lockers are suited for skis and we had to keep 1 board in our room. Piste is right outside so very handy.
