A lovely Ryokan run by a lovely helpful family. Large comfortable rooms . We were also driven to the Monkey Park and taken to the station free of charge. The breakfasts were plentiful and delicious.
The Japanese room was comfortable and Onsen clean and refreshing.More

Great place to stay after visiting the snow monkeys.
The owner can't do enough to make your stay comfortable.
The rooms are a traditional style and great experience.
The owner will pick up or drop you off at the snow monkey park and the train station also gives plenty of recommendations for dinning out or sights in Yudanaka.
We were delighted to find some of the monkeys had come down from the mountain and sat on our balcony the morning we were leaving.

A bit of a walk uphill but that means great views of this onsen town (and neighbouring Shibu Onsen), as well as the mountains on the other side of the valley. Very much a traditional ryokan. That means welcoming hosts, comfortable, traditional Japanese surrounds, and separate male/female onsens (don't forget to book the outside onsen with a view of the town!). Within easy reach of the snow monkey park and several ski resorts, including Shiga Kogen where you can ski for days and not ski the same trail twice.

The owners shuttled us to and from the train station and entrance to the Snow Monkey Park. This ryokan provides clean, traditional rooms and though there wasn't an elevator, they staff helped us carry our heavy luggage to the third floor. Definitely skip the restaurant they recommend for dinner, but the private onsen a short walk away is worth the small additional cost.
