“Nice Snowy Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2013

For us that come from tropical country, the experience to this snow ski park is unforgettable. My kids are enjoying the snow park very much where the walk through the snow are snow boarding. It was a good experience

“Great skiing and lots of it.”

Great to have "Skiers Only" areas. Great lift system and everything works all the time. Friendly staff. Great Restaurants on the slopes - Highly recommend St Christophs and the Restaurant in the Phoenix Hotel.

“Skiing at shiga kogen”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2012

Skied at shiga kogen in early march.
First trip to Japan, and surprised just how easy it was. The Japanese people are so friendly and helpfull.
Flew into narita airport from the gold coast with jetstar, no difficulties.
Arrived around 7pm and bought a 4 day jr rail pass at the airport. Great value as can be used any four days within a month.
Stayed at a local hotel and next day caught the narita express to Tokyo and then the bullet train to Nagano, took all up about 3 hrs.
Here we had a private taxi booked to continue onto shiga kogen, just over hour journey.
Stayed at the prince east hotel.
Rooms were roomy with a great view, but. Although the food was good became monotonous after a few nights, either Japanese hotspot you cooked yourself or western which was beef / fish and veggies plus dessert. If decide to stay here make sure that breakfast and dinner is included as very expensive if you dine here without package. No nightlife so for younger people maybe not so good an option. The bar opened a few hrs before dinner then closed 6pm to 8.30pm while dinner was on then opened again.
The resort was sensational to ski, for 5 of 6 days skied the best snow, lovely runs, us being low intermediate able to go right to top, most the ski area interconnected by lifts that you could ski for miles. There were few skiers there so no long lift waits and apart from a few runs where school students were skiing very many of the runs you saw few people.
Runs were well marked and varied.
Remember to have cash as many of the restaurants don't have card facilities and to get cash there a bit of a hassle.
Although not a lot of English spoken, there was no problem with communication.
