“Great place”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

the location isnt far from Yudanaka station, its in walking distance.the owner were so helpful, they drove us to monkey park, and let us used the private onsen .
Our room was quite big,and comfy, they provided wifi in the room, but no bathroom only wastafel
in the morning they served breakfast ,traditional japanese and a private room.
When we left, the owner's mother gave 1 apple (she said its a special one),and the father dropped us to the station because of raining.
It was a really great stay, great hospitality!!!

Stay @ Yudanaka seifuso for a night on 10062012. This ryokan was quite near to the Yudanaka station. would recommend to take an express train up from nagano, the difference was only about a 100 yen.
Stay @ the 2nd floor. Nice spacious room. And the service was nevertheless excellent..
Not much things to do or walk around during the night time. There is a 24hr store 'Lawson' near the station.
A must-try at the ryokan semi-open onsen. A point to note; there is a time section for male/female to use the outdoor onsen.

Room Tip: The only bad point of staying at the 2nd floor is the steps are quite small. and could be quite dang...

We came in at around 10pm on the last train to Yudanaka after a 3 and a half hour flight delay coming into Tokyo, luckily the staff were still up and waiting for us. The ryokan is a 1 minute walk from the train/bus station, just follow the street signs that point the way to it. The location was the best for any hotel I have stayed in Japan, you could walk to the bus station and be up shiga kogen in 30 minutes skiing/snowboarding, or head to the monkey park in 10 minutes, then ride back down and rest your feet in the public foot bath at the train station.

The ryokan itself is very nice and traditional looking, the outside onsen (rotenburo) was the best and is very pretty when it is snowing, I was lucky enough to have the entire thing to myself one morning. The owner of the ryokan is really nice and lets you use the onsen's privately if you ask. In general our room had free wifi, a public toilet, tv, a nice little window view, a heated table, tea and cookies, and a heater.
We spent our last day in Nagano walking back from the snow monkey park, to the sake factory, through shibuonsen and up through the hike behind the world peace memorial (issa no michi) along the mountain side and then ended up back in the onsen's of the ryokan. This is was by far one of the coolest places I have been to in Japan (I lived there for a year during college and have traveled most of the country) and would recommend it to anyone.

by far the best ryokan to visit when travelling to Nagano area or to the snow monkeys park.
every thing was extremely perfect, from the warm hospitality, the most delicious dinner and the onsen experience. the owners and ryokan manager were so warm and went wild so that we could have the best experience and stay.
we would definitely recommend seifuso ryokan for whom are looking for a real Japanese hosting in a warm and generous atmosphere.

If you are heading for the snow monkeys or a ski/snowboarding trip close to Yudanaka, then I could highly recommend this ryokan. Located very close to the train/bus/taxi station and there is a convenience store nearby. Staff was very friendly and tried to keep your stay as comfortable as possible.

I was traveling by myself mid-March 2012. The room (traditional Japanese with tatami) was large and had everything one could need. Refrigerator, kotatsu, heater, tv. Their own spa (indoor apple bath and outdoor rotenburo) makes it worthwhile to stay an extra evening just to come at rest.

Rooms are clean, communal area's as well and towels and yukata are refreshed daily. Maps and brochures are available in the ryokan.

Extra note for those traveling with a JR Pass: the Nagano Dentetsu line that takes you from Nagano Station to Yudanaka Station is NOT operated by JR so take this into account if want to use Yudanaka as base for daytrips.

Stayed here two nights around Christmas Eve 2011. Central location, 2 minute walk to the train station/bus depot/taxi rank. Well-appointed, traditional rooms (with wi-fi). Loved the wood veneer toilet! Three beautiful onsens - one with apples, one with lemons and one outdoors (great when it's snowing). Warm and welcoming owners who are all too happy to give you a lift to the snow monkeys/an apple for the road/a cuppa. After seeing the state of some of the onsens in shibu onsen, I think we made a great choice staying here. Food was more than plentiful, delicious and different each night. Nice and warm in the winter!

Room Tip: Our room on the top floor had the neatest bathroom!
