This one a new entrant in the city from a worldwide known chain located just opposite to the other known brand hotel Le Meridian. Located by the highway its easy to commute to and from the airport and you don't need to get into the busy city traffic.
From outside it looks huge with probably some 15 floors which makes you to expect an equal grand entrance and lobby. Not to forget that this one belongs to a well established world renowned chain. But when you enter its quite a surprise to see dimly lit lobby with very basic and nothing extra ordinary design/set up/furnishing. Assuming that this is a 5 star category hotel the lobby is quite an unassuming one. Have stayed in the other hotels in the area but the first impression (lobby and entrance) was not kind of what i expected.
The check in and check out process is fast and efficient. Over all service is quite good except that it can go little overboard at times particularly in the coffee shop. The other spoiler is that the hotel has just got the liquor license so nothing other than beer and wine can be served here. The food menu at the coffee shop is excellent. Good mix of local and international cuisine. I was particularly thrilled to such variety and tasty cuisine from Kerala being served.
The food served over here is simply excellent.
The rooms are huge well equipped and clean, though house keeping can be improved further. The lobby area on each floor (particularly 9th floor) had a strange smell (probably from the carpet). The rooms are with city view (main road) and backwater view. I got a city view room though i requested for the one with backwater view (wish they could accommodate us as the hotel was half empty). Lighting in the bathroom is little strange (most of them are on top and hardly any on the side or on the front of the mirror).
WIFI is not free.
Swimming Pool is on the ground level which has quite an interesting access. For a moment I thought I was lost. There's another pool at the coffee shop level, but am not sure if you can use that.
The elevators can be accessed by your room keys...but strangely sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.
Over all not like best of the Crowne Plaza hotel but not bad either...probably this will move up in the ladder with time...
