“luxury in the middle of nowhere”
Reviewed February 21, 2012

An amazing place, with the most attentive staff and personal service. Would be the ideal place to hide away on a wet winter weekend in the UK! We did enjoy our 2 nights here and our little trip of the village with our lady tuk tuk driver. Give plenty of notice if you order food, but it is excellent and we could not believe how reasonable the bill was when we left. The high tech shower etc.do need some working out but quite an experience. The only downside is that it is in a residential area, but it was quite interesting to venture out and look around. Apart frim another English couple the other residents were all at a medical conference.

Room Tip: We only saw our suite but guess they are similar.

What an interesting place to stay. A six room personal service villa complex. “There are no systems here – just what you want” The room was a suite really, large with jacuzzi, kitchen/diner bedroom en suite etc., free fast internet (network cable in the room ) and fancy shower and a jacuzzzi. The overall design could have been improved but the facilities were top notch. The only trouble is that you needed a degree in electronic engineering to master some of the hi-tec facilities such as switching on the lights accessing the TV, altering the AC or obtaining hot water. What makes it a cut above the rest is the staff, especially the charming Samitha who does reception, back office, customer relations, maitre d' , waitress, and also doubles as a tuk tuk driver as well as being willing to be a guide when we visited the local temple at night to witness the annual Shiva festival. It does not have much in the way of grounds and is set amidst a maze of streets in a little suburban village enclave of Cochin, a few kilometres from the centre of Ernakulam. Oh yes, and the food is very good, freshly cooked and at a good price – you say what you want and where and when you want to eat it an hour or so in advance so it can be freshly prepared. The only irritating thing is the elevator which thanks you for travelling in it and wishes you have a nice day – straight out of Douglas Adams.

We stayed here for 2 nights while our visit to Kerala in Dec 2011.. It's a wonderful place and the staff were very co operative. Well maintained rooms, wonderful food and a quite place away from the hustle of the city. Its a bit difficult to access if you don't have a vehicle at your disposal. We hired a cab on the first day. Suggest hire a cab if you want to move out and not to take "Autos"as the Auto drivers were really rude. Ideal place for a weekend retreat.

We visited Sreeragam in between our vacation trip and the experience was excellent. We where able to enjoy the traditional foods of Kerala in a quite private atmosphere with zero disturbances!!!!!!! The staffs were much cooperative and adjustable to any needs. The dining area was an excellent experience with musical water fountain and variety of games. Our room was marvellous... decorated well, furnished in the traditional Kerala style with all modern aminities, spacious, nice wash room with powerful shower room, Jacuzzi etc etc... We were fully satisfied with the stay...

Room Tip: Look for the suite rooms...

We stayed here for 2 nights on a Mercury Direct tour. When we arrived we were shown to our room which had a whirlpool bath in the bathroom, a small dressing area with wardrobes and quite a small bedroom - no balcony but Samitha the guest relations manager said we will move you to another room tomorrow which we though was pointless as we were only there for 2 nights. The next day we were moved to what can only be described as a suite, living room with flat screen TV, dining room/kitchen (although nothing to cook with and hob was not connected), dressing room separated from whirlpool bathroom by a low glass screen, bedroom with large 4 poster bed with flat screen TV, toilet and sink room with multi jet shower room off it. Fixtures and fittings could only be described as extremely modern and OTT - Indians would love it. The restuarant was on the top floor, furnishings were disappointing - thick wooden tables and benches but the food was very nice.
Samitha and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Outside there is a garden with a plunge pool and a room with 2 pieces of gym equipment.
We found out that this hotel is owned by the owner of the Indian tour agent that Mercury Direct use in Kerala so it is basically a transit hotel for people of Mercury Direct tours, it is also isolated (difficult to find your way through the winding streets to the main road if you wished to walk and have a look at the area) and quite a distance from Kochi (approx 20 mins car ride) so not one to choose if you wish to explore Kochi.

We stayed at Sreegaram Luxury Villa in Cochin as part of a tour organised through Mercury Direct. I believe the villa is owned by the MD of the tour company Mercury use to arrange their tours. The concept is a luxury homestay. The villa is located in a residential area - and the downside is that it is quite a long drive into Cochin, so if you want to walk around the town at night, its not ideal. However, for us, it was fine. The room was really luxurious with all mod cons - a fantastic power shower, an amazing double jacuzzi, separate dressing room, flatscreen TV and a huge room. The food was brilliant - served on the roof terrace, with a fantastic chef, who will tailor the menu to what you like. He kept letting us try local specialities. The staff were very attentive. They joined us for a game of pool on the terrace. There is also a dancing fountain(!) up there, which dances along to the tunes of BoneyM! Outside there is a massive (around 20 foot across!) jacuzzi, but it was out of service when we were there as we had a lot of rain. The villa is currently undergoing some building work, but it didn't affect our stay at all.
