our party of 9 stayed for 2 nights when visiting River Cottage in mid november, so we had all 5 rooms. For a mid-range B+B I thought it was good value, with some nice touches (such as Twinings tea bags). There was no hairdryer, but no problem borrowing one, and an iron. Each room had a convector heater, so nice and cosy. All the rooms were immaculate and nicely decorated (everything looked new). My twin bed was comfortable, with extra pillows and blankets. The extra cost of breakfast was well worth it, not too exciting, but excellent bacon and sausages- much appreciated by the men! We all enjoyed helping ourselves from the buffet, and our hosts were attentive without crowding or rushing us. The staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble- including locating a set of jump leads! We had one evening meal, and were impressed by the lovely fresh seasonal vegetables- rather like good home cooking. The steak and ale pie was delicious. The pub was quiet and orderly. I can see why the owners would not tolerate bad langauge from one of the other reviewers. Because the rooms were in a separate annexe they were quiet,( but may not be in summer when the beer garden is in use). Disabled access would be difficult due to the steep location and lots of steps although there were plenty of sturdy handrails. I loved this place and would stay there again.
