We're two families from Paris and Strasbourg, just back from an excellent week in Kirklandbank.
Everything was perfect, Marian and Simon really helpfull and we were lucky to see a few days old lamb. Unforgettable experience for all of us and a special thank to Marian who spent time to explain us the sheep psycologie.
It was difficult to leave.
Access to the farmhouse approx 1 Mike from the main road , needs a car with a solid suspension . However , when you arrive , you will not be disappointed . The views are simply stunning , a great place for a few families and pets to enjoy the Highlands. The proprietors Marion & Simon are most attentive , and we would be delighted to return again . We were a party of 10 on a weeks golfing break , a superb location for the surrounding courses
9 adults travelled up from Milton Keynes for the Catteran Yomp weekend. This lovely property sits right on the Catteran Trail and is perfect for walking. The property is beautiful inside and out and had everything we could ask for, including fresh eggs from the farm chickens. Marian was a wonderful host, checking we were all ok throughout our stay. Local pubs, shops and cafes nearby in Alyth. We all commented how quiet and peaceful our stay was. A lovely rest.
Just back from a fantastic weekend at Kirklandbank Farmhouse. We were a group of 9 (4 adults and 5 kids) and the property was perfect. The layout really suited our mixed group with 2 bedrooms in one 'wing' and 3 in the other. It meant that both families had their own space with the bonus of an en-suite in every room. The kitchen and dining area was perfect for our large group.
The property itself is beautiful but the star of the show is the view! Absolutely stunning! Thankfully the weather was great for the time of year and we were able to enjoy being outside. The kids loved the rope swing at the front of the property! The walk down to Alyth Den was lovely and easy enough for the bigger kids. There was so much to do outdoors in the area that we'd love to come back and explore some more.
The kids loved being able to feed the chickens, collect eggs, and round up the sheep! A highlight! The short time spent with the animals made their weekend!
Can't recommend the place highly enough and a big thanks to Marion and Simon for being great hosts and especially for the time they spent with the kids on the farm.
Great place to stay, granddaughter loved feeding the sheep, chickens and collecting the eggs. We enjoyed staying in the big farm house, with it's fully equipped kitchen. Being close to the Cairngorms we were able to spend days out in the National Park and found enough snow for the children to play in. Marian was great and made our stay a delight. We'll be back.
This is a wonderfully spacious retreat that has been thoughtfully decorated with modern appliances - we also loved the tartan carpeting up the stairs! The view from the farmhouse is simply stunning and there are bike tracks, walking tracks and table tennis for those seeking some exercise. The owners were very welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful - they also have a bookshelf full of useful information and things to do in the area. Whilst the farmhouse is in the country, it is not far from the major cities. We found our stay very relaxing and our kids loved playing hide and seek in the large house. We would definitely visit again!
