We were having work done at our house and were lucky enough to be able to stay at the Old Brewhouse at Bamff during that time. It was such a delight to walk in and be as comfortable as at home. There are all sorts of nice touches such as reading lamps by the couches and beds. I love to cook and it was nice to be in the kitchen where there was a good selection of pots and pans and dishes and kitchen tools. The bedrooms and kitchen dining room all have lovely views of the lawn and the large windows allow the light to come flooding in. The beds are so comfortable for a great sleep. We liked being able to step outside to go on interesting walks. One day it rained heavily for hours and we were perfectly comfortable to just lounge around and read. We would highly recommend staying here.
A wonderful location for an escape break. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped, with great character. Take your time to enjoy the surroundings and take a hike round the estate which is teaming with birds and wildlife.
Came up for a couple of nights just before Christmas. The brewhouse was surprisingly toasty for so old a building, and the kitchen was well-equipped as others have commented, so absolutely no problem cooking. There are other lets on the estate so a few people about but a very relaxed atmosphere and the owners are usually there when needed.
My only real criticism is of whoever is running the Trip Advisor account - I messaged to ask about arrival time, key etc and phoned but had absolutely no response. In the end we just had to wing it and turn up at Bamff. Maybe this was because Aileen B had already gone on hols, I don't know...
Overall had a great stay, would recommend and might even come back in the summer!
Four of us stayed in the hideaway on the cateran trail overlooking the local beavers . 2 adults and 2 kids and it was a great wild life experience, great value for money and a wonderful time was had by all. Thanks to Louise and Paul for their kind hospitality.
The Old Brewhouse in Bamff was exactly what we hoped it would be: Secluded, magical and restful. The cottage is comfortable and the beds are super cosy. The kitchen is well equipped, which is important to us as we cook at least one meal a day while on holiday.
We did several walks across the estate and it is magical. Paul Ramsay also took us out beaver watching and we actually saw a beaver in the wild. Apart from the beavers, we saw a huge amount of wildlife, the variety of birds is unbelievable and it was lovely to be woken in the morning to birdsong, at night sitting in the cosy lounge we heard owls. And as my daughter put it: It's impossible to walk more than 10 metres without tripping over a pheasant.
I am very sad that I could not stay, I was ready to move in. We will be back that's for sure.
My husband and I arrived for a 3 night stay and were greeted warmly by the owner who showed us around the cottage. The cottage was very cold on arrival and it would have been lovely if the heat had been turned on in preparation for our arrival. The owner didn't know how to work the heating but luckily my husband was able to work it out.
The cottage has 2 bedrooms, a sitting room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom. The double room is small and anyone over the height of 6 foot tall may have an issue with the bed, my husband is 6ft 4 and spent most of the night with his feet hanging over the edge. The twin room is huge and the beds appear to be longer!!! The bathroom has a gorgeous roll top bath and what seems to be an endless supply of hot water! The kitchen had everything you would need including a small dishwasher and there is also a washing machine. The wifi whilst we were there was not great and the television signal was also not great. The driveway to the house could also do with being fixed, so do not take your sports car if you are planning a visit.
However having said all this the house is set in absolutely stunning countryside and the walks and views are spectacular. There are beaver ponds on the estate which the owners can take you on tours off or you can walk around them on your own. We will definitely return in the near future and spend more time on the estate taking advantage of the beautiful walks and views.
One point I must make was that Aileen who we booked the cottage through was absolutely fantastic in recommending local restaurants.

We stayed at the old brewhouse with the kids for a week. I can assure it is a magical place to stay. The stunning nature wich you are surrounded within makes you feel like you are in a fairytale. The accomodation has everything you need. The kids went looking for beavers pigs and roedeer. It was the highlight of our holiday in Scotland. Many thanks Paul & Louise & Aileen for your relyable service. We will be back :)
