“Scottish Break”
Reviewed January 24, 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Just spent a week in olive grove cottage have stayed in a lot of cottages and this one is up there the best it is in a central position in the village but still nice and quiet. Everything in the cottage is first class and kept spotlessly clean by the owners. At the moment their is only 1 pub in the village while the others are being Re-fitted after flood damage should be open soon the one that is open the Losset is a friendly family run pub that serves good home cooked food and is good value.

What a fantastic place Alan & Morag have to stay in so quiet and relaxing,we stoped in early October for 8 days venturing out into the stunning scenery on quite traffic free roads, everything you want was there the only thing required was the food ,we will definitely be staying again not if but when

From the moment we booked the cottage (through a recommendation from a friends daughter), Alan and Morag were very helpful, responded to emails, and helped us gather information as we were travelling from Canada to a place we had never been, and supplied everything they said that they would. Alan and Morag met us at the cottage, which was spotlessly clean and is exactly, if not better, than it appears on the website. They left us a beautiful welcome basket full of bread, coffee, tea, sugar and cake. The cottage is modern inside with all the conveniences but has all the old charm still. The location is great, shops, cafe's, butcher's and fish and chip shop all within a one minute or less walk. Situated next to a river, the cottage is located in a beautiful, quaint little town. Our intent was to travel to different areas, that is why we chose this location and it worked out great. We travelled to Glen Coe, Inverness, Loch Ness, Aberdeen, St. Andrew's and Edinburgh. I would highly recommend Olive Grove Cottage. It was very hard to leave and we hope to be back.

What can we say - this lovely wee cottage deserves even more than the 5 star rating it already has. We were met by the owner Alan who showed us around and he had left us bread, butter, milk and wine as a wee welcome pack and was arranging fresh cut flowers in a vase for us too when we turned up ;0) Lovely wee touches. Everything has been thought of to make your stay as comfortable and worry free as possible. The bath is massive and I have loved lying soaking in it - being disabled it is important for me to be able to soak my joints night and morning to keep moving so this was such a treat ;0) There is also a lovely shower over the bath and the heated floor was fabulous when you had to get up in the night xx The log burner is a lovely touch with loads of logs in two sheds outside but sadly it did beat my husband who just has not managed to keep it lit lol - much to his disgust with himself - its a man thing ;0) Not that we needed it as the central heating keeps the place so lovely and cosy. The only worry I have had has been the very steep staircase - I had not realised on booking that both bedrooms were upstairs - fine for able bodied people but very scary for anyone with mobility issues like myself - I have managed though by being very careful and the very thoughtful addition of a wee motion sensor light at top that lights up stairwell in the dark is a great safety feature. Previous resident was a very elderly lady so she must have managed ok ;0) All in all we would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this gorgeous little cottage to anyone and I have already been posting links to the website on all my social media pages to let everyone see how lovely it is ;0)

We had a 3 night stay at the cottage. The owner met us and showed us around on our arrival. The cottage has been renovated to a high standard. It was also spotlessly clean. It is close to shops, hotels and there is plenty to do there.

“Magical Perfection”

We stayed at OGC a few years ago for Christmas & New Year, I meant to write a review then but forgot. Having read the negative one it prompted me to defend OCG, as I can truly say it's the best we've stayed at & there have been a lot over the years. When we arrived Alan & Morag were there to greet us, candles were lit in the widow & around the lounge plus a gorgeously decorated Christmas tree (later we found smaller ones in the bedrooms, magical). Fresh coffee was brewing, banana bread straight out the oven & a lovely hamper of all sorts of goodies plus a Christmas card for us, we felt more like family. The cottage has been fitted out & decorated to an extremely high standard, it screams quality by the bucket, from the wooden floor, leather couches, bathroom tiles, towels, bed linen, coffee maker down to the little thing on the kitchen wall to put the plastic bags. The log burner in the lounge was great & OCG was the only place we've stayed that provided a whole shed full of logs, not the usual 1st bag. The small courtyard garden is perfect & yet again the table, chairs & umbrella are good quality. At night small lights twinkle in the shrubbery, lovely touch. The comment made about steep stairs was unfair as everybody knows that old cottages come with steep stairs & if I could get up & down them following 2 pelvic operations I'm pretty sure most people would have no difficuly & as for the bedroom door it posed no problems at all. The cottage is placed in a perfect situation to access everywhere in Alyth easily, as of yet we've not returned but we most certainly will. I could on forever about our favourite cottage but I have to check on my banana bread, Morag kindly gave me the recipe & ever since we came home & I started making it, it's been hugely popular with all friends & family thanks so much Morag X
