We've had a number of very good and excellent meals here in the past couple of years but the last two visits have fallen well short. There never seems to be the same staff in attendance which was one of the attractions and the new menu appears complicated with its special deals and various formats which clearly baffled adjacent diners. We opted for the pan-fried pork (£13.25) and braised beef (£12.75) from the a la carte, both of which were disappointing. The pork was very fatty and bloody which was unacceptable; the beef sadly overcooked and served with an unappetising mound of bacon lardons on top. This was brought to the attention of a waiter who quickly removed the pork and returned it to the kitchen where it was carved up into slices and stuck back under the grill. When the dish was returned, it resembled something which had been cut up for a small child or pet. Our complaints went unheeded so the bill for £46+ (including three beers) seemed excessive. Rather than travelling throughout France to sample the cuisine and selecting favourite dishes, what's needed here is a more responsible chef and a team who make diners feel special. It's not happening right now.
