I always enjoy my food here. It is delicately cooked with vegetable accompaniments. Not just a plate painted with sauces. The choice is just about enough and we did put a special request for Beef Wellington for my daughter and the kindly obliged (at a supplement). You wil need to book and keep exactly to time as it is small and very efficiently run. They can't cope if you turn up late or early!

A fantastic restaurant tucked away off the main road but all-in-all a wonderful place to dine. The food was out of this world, the setting was perfect and the service was excellent. You simply cannot fault it. A must place to go to for anyone who likes to fine dine.

From the moment we stepped through the door of Rhiw Afallen, we were made welcome by Kate, the proprietor. The lounge was very relaxing and extremely comfortable, and the drinks service was prompt and unhurried. The menu was excellent and it was difficult to decide which to choose. There were 6 in our party and we mostly chose differently. The small, intimate, 20 seater conservatory restaurant has excellent views over the surrounding countryside and is very tastefully decorated. From the amuse bouche to the final coffee all our meals were wonderful and our friends all enthused about their choices. It was undoubtably the best restaurant experience any of us have had, and the staff, though young, were all well trained and extremely efficient. Congratulations Kate and Rob (the brilliant chef), we will definitely be back.

Thank you - these two words to our hosts Rob and Kate seem very inadequate for the very Special stay for my husband's Special birthday. As usual the welcome and friendliness, the surroundings, the ambiance, accommodation and last but not least the food was outstanding. Rob and Kate as you know we were a party of six. We are all well travelled and have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in the world. These include Michelin Starred restaurants. Without a doubt the meal that we had was equal to the best. You are a very talented chef Rob and your well written and imaginative menu is a delight in itself. The service from you Kate was exceptional and thank you for keeping the secrets and the surprises. With your talents, hard work and good taste you both deserve to have every ongoing success and we thoroughly agree with all and every one of the excellent comments made by your other guests.

grap a pen and write this name down. rhiwafallen.

from the road it seems a bit under-stated but that is just how kate and rob john want it. they lure you in, then sting you with contemporary perfection from the coffee table with menu ,to the table with coffee, post menu. technically is superb, john has the mindset of the customer well figured out. the raspberry vinagrette with the goat cheese is a perfect ensemble, the duck confit a delicate and imaginative version of this french montagnard classic. i plumped for the pea and watercress soup with panchetta. madame opted for the fish with prawn gigot. sublime even down to the brunoise.. I followed with a perfectly pink and juicy duck breast with five spice, I dont think the butcher does the chef justice but the rib eye was excellent nonetheless. to finish, the rhubarb and custard was as textbook as mille feuille should be, crisp and with just the right amount of vanilla custard to absorb the sharpness of the fruit. kate (the lady of the house) had us relaxed and cooing by the time it takes to say "gin and tonic",what a superb hostess. this place really delivers without any of the ego [-] you get from other more highly acclaimed restaurants, which forever dissappoint. cant wait to return with friends, well done!!!
