The Parador serves a good lunch with a great view over the village which has cave houses used originally for wine storage in Roman times.

I cannot believe the other positive reviews here. I think that they must have an occasional chef! We were there at 8 pm on a Wednesday evening when the hotel receptionist also doubled as our waiter (and I half suspect our chef)! He was a nice chap.
We ordered 2 starters and 4 mains. Starters were goats cheese with quince and then crochets (supposedly homemade). The goats cheese was fine, the crochets were mush, both served with crisps (slightly odd but we let it pass). The mains got much more interesting and appalling. The sweet and sour lamb was fat and gristle (not just fatty meat but fat and gristle - any meat was barely detectable) and served with crisps (getting more odd). The pork cheeks tasted like a very bland stew and were served with more crisps. As you can imagine, crisps get rather soggy in the presence of gravy. Another meal (we can't recall the name) was essentially a mixed grill with a pork chop, spanish sausage that looked partially cooked, black pudding and a regular sausage and (you guessed it, served with yet more crisps!). My youngest daughter had the children's menu and was delighted with her fried pork (thinly sliced) and chips (fries). She came out of this with the best experience. We normally enjoy potato crisps as a snack or with a drink - not 'restaurant quality food', which this wasn't. In summary it appeared that maybe the chef had a night off and the food was left to be heated up and served with crisps!
It looks as though some of the other reviewers had a similar experience.

Stopped here for lunch on our way driving through Ronda, Zahara, and Olivera, on the way to Granada. We were the only ones in the restaurant around 3pm and couldn't find any staff at first, but eventually found the hostess/owner? Ended up having a very lovely meal, great view, great food, good value. Pork cheeks were delectable, very tender and not overwhelmingly oily and salty like a lot of Spanish food. The free olives were some of the best I've ever had, Setenil is supposedly known for olive oil, but we couldn't find any shops. Was able to find some street parking just down the hill on CA-4222. They ended up giving us the menu price for everything even though we were trying to order a la carte so saved us money too, we didn't even know, we left without having the included coffee and dessert even though she asked us several times!

To get to the restaurant you have to go downstairs, but you still get a table with views over the countryside. On our visit for lunch on a Friday in early December we were well looked after by a nice waiter. The tables and everything else were spotlessly clean and well organised. We chose a menu del dia with drinks and tea afterwards. Excellent value for €35 for two. Highly recommended.

As a rule we avoid hotel restaurants because the food is often very poor. How glad we are that we visited the Mirador. We were in Setenil for a week and went to the restaurant on three occasions. The food and service was excellent on all three occasions. We had the 15 euro weekend menu and the menu del dia at an amazing 8 euros 50 as well as the a la carte. Each time the quality was excellent as was the presentation and attentive service.
Beautiful views over the village.
If you are in the area this restaurant is not to be missed.
