My husband and I stayed for a long weekend at the end of April, we found the room very comfortable, clean and we could not fault the room charge. Steve was a very welcoming host and cooked a lovely filling breakfast. The hotel was very well situated for local bars and restaurants and the parking in the center of town was a real bonus. We will be returning again when we are in the area.
Stayed here twice over the last 4 months. Clean rooms, ensuite facilities, good breakfast and plenty of parking. Would definately recommend this small hotel. Keep up the good work Steve.
The room was very clean and comfortable with plenty of space. It included an en suite toilet and shower and the usual tea & coffee making facilities. Ample parking is made available to the side of property and is ideally situated close to Asda and local amenities.
The included breakfast, on this occasion, was spot on and much needed for a day in the office!

I stayed here for two nights to attend a friend's 65th birthday party who I stay with occasionally but was full up with family on this occasion.
I don't use hotels that often because I own a touring caravan, but I must say that after this visit I will be tempted to do it more often.
The room was immaculately clean, well presented and very comfortable. There was a decent flat screen TV with Freeview so it had radio channels as well, tea making and an excellent on-suite bathroom.
The dining room was of the same high standard with breakfast served at the time of your choice which is very convenient, and very tasty too.
The manager was friendly and helpful, even contacting me en-route to estimate my arrival time.
The hotel is well situated in the town centre with pubs, paper shop, food outlets if you so desire and is adjacent to the local taxi company, so everything is in easy reach.
I have not explored the area very much but being close to The Pennines it has great potential for exploration and also I believe the new Manchester tramway will be accessed within easy reach.

Stayed August 20&21, and as other reviewers say, clean, comfortable, and there was a real bath! New manager very pleasant too. Yes, noisy on the ground floor, room 1 has pavements directly outside the two windows so Friday & Saturday night teen etc shouting & screaming is very close (but heck, I live on a corner, though with some garden & hedge as a buffer). Traffic noise wasn't a problem, but at present the road's closed just below the hotel! Good private parking for a town centre spot too.
I'll be there again.
My wife and I were pleased to have found this hotel, as we were visiting our brand new great-grandson nearby. The rooms were warm, although the weather was cold. We had paid for a double room, but were given a large family room, which had everything we needed and even had a table and chairs with the tea and coffee making facilities. The shower was easy to operate, and the breakfast was excellent. But the main thing going for it was the friendliness of Gill, the owner.
