A group of 8 friends stayed at the Old White Hart at Lyddington in May for three midweek nights. The accommodation is quirky but extremely comfprtable, no two rooms are the same but all en-suite with special features such as Jacussi in one and walk in shower in others and extremely clean and comfortable. The chef owner and his wife run a first class restaurant, the food was exceptional, using all local produce with starters such as Cromer crab and own apple smoked salmon and mains such as local lamb rack with individual mini shepherds pie, with sumptuous desserts to follow. The wine list was not too extensive but good value for money and a good range of real ale. The staff were pleasant and attentive without being intrusive, all in all we would highly recommend this fabulous inn..

Loved this place. It's a characterful old inn with a very tasteful makeover in a delightful village surrounded by beautiful countryside. The service is friendly, quick and efficient, and the food is delicious. The bedrooms, mostly in adjacent converted cottages, are excellent, with nicely furnished bedrooms of good size and superb, large bathrooms with quality fittings. My only gripe, and a minor one given all the positives, is that I found it difficult to lower the temperature produced by the underfloor hearing in the bedroom. This is very effective, but the weather was quite mild so I found it too hot for comfortable sleeping.

We booked the Bede superior room for our anniversary evening. Fancied the jacuzzi bathroom so only £15 extra supplement. Lovely cozy room, tastefully done and superb bathroom. Only downfall was to negotiate the spiral staircase up to the loo in the night after a wine or too!
Our meal was beautiful and the ful English superb. Overall a great deal for a Friday night. £160 full dinner bed breakfast band drinks. Bargain.

Room Tip: Had a peak at the Uppingham room and was nowhere near as nice or quirky as ours. Worth the extra

Haven't been here for a couple of years so was very pleasantly surprised to see the refurbishments, a delightful olde worlde' hotel with a superb restaurant. The service was just right and the local sausages' to die for. Plenty of outside seating (for when the sun decides to shine again), a Petangue area and lots of parking availabilty. You will need to book a table, even in the middle of the week. We have just tried to book for a couple of weekends to stay over in the summer, full! Disappointed but a good sign that this is a place to be!. The cutest door signs on the 'facilities'! We will return soon.

Stayed here for two nights in standard room. Bed very comfy with nice furnishings and added luxury of homemade shortbread that was replenished each day. Bathroom large and roomy with large roll top bath and walk in shower. Underfloor heating was a welcome addition especially as weather was cold outside. Lovely and cosy with free wifi. Breakfasts were enough portion wise the homemade sausage was great and could have done with two as they were yummy! The rooms were in adjoining cottages so very private and within a couple of yards from the pub. Food at night and lunchtime was lovely with the added bonus of bring half price mon through to thurs ie homemade soup for less than £2.50. Adequate wine list and great hand pull cask ale . A very nice relaxing cosy place host was very welcoming and staff were lovely - will definitely revisit with no hesitation whatsoever

After a trip to Silverstone we stopped here for the night on the way back to Scotland. We normally have the fantastic haddock, home made chips and minted mushy peas and yet again we did this time to. The fish and chips here are in my view the best ever and by which all others are judged! Prompt service and a nice pint in this charming old world inn with two open fires giving just the right atmosphere.
Our room for the night was one of the adjoining cottages with a whirlpool type bath in a bathroom larger than many peoples living room. The bedroom, bathroom and guest lounge have a great homely attention to detail with quality period furnishings plus all mod cons you would expect. We had a nice breakfast with all home cooked produce.
I have stopped here about 4 times in the last 18 years and eaten here many times when nearby, it's so nice to pay a little extra and have such great quality food and accommodation.

Room Tip: "Bede" room is my favorite or the room above the entrance with a very powerful shower!

Well maintained pub in an idyllic village. Rooms excellent, spread within the building and adjoining cottages. Clean and spacious, nice touches like homemade shortbread in the room. Attentive service and nice atmosphere in the pub. Didn't have dinner there, breakfast was freshly home cooked though not quite to my liking. Great value, well worth a stay if you're visiting the area. The pub has wifi though be aware there is very little mobile signal in this village.
