Visited Morley Hayes hotel for a cookery demonstration of ideas for Christmas followed by a lunch. The cook was Rachel Green, well known for her skills, and she also works together with Morley Hayes and their catering team. Arrived at 10am for a coffee and a mincepie. Rachel then cooked and baked a range of food, nothing too complicated, and most recipes could be adapted to personal taste. She had Jane as her 'helper'. Jane is a manager at Morley Hayes, but they made a good double act with lots of humour. Opportunity to taste everything followed by a lovely 2 course lunch. Well worth the £29.95 cost, and a great idea as an early Christmas gift for friends. Hope they do it again.

Stayed here after a wedding and it was the perfect way to end a wonderful day. Friendly and professional staff. Extremely clean and high quality bedrooms and bathrooms. I would most definitely stay here again.

Disappointed with our latest visit to the roosters bar. My main meat dish was over cooked and also my child's meal the same. I decided to let the staff know and they obviously were not happy... They did however offer a child ice cream as an apology... I leave quite dissatisfied and roosters will not be on my "return soon" list any time soon... I say this with regret as we have never had a problem before, however I was sad at the resolution.

We stayed for a week in late September, four of us including our two daughters aged 10 and 12. We have family and friends dotted around this part of Derbyshire, and Morley Hayes is also close to the Peak District, Derby and Nottingham city centres etc, so a great location. The staff were super from start to finish. We we're upgraded to a suite which was relatively spacious, comfortable and well-equipped; the girls particularly liked the rather decadent TV screen in the bathroom and were somewhat bemused by the bidet! The girls slept in sofa beds which were nevertheless very comfortable. Our bed was enormous ("emperor") and really comfortable - we all slept really really well. The place was spotless. I was also really impressed by the fact that we had free access to the excellent Virgin Active gym in Derby, and we're given lifts the 5 miles to and from there when we wanted to go. Breakfast was very nice with a mix of healthy buffet and cooked choices, and the staff excellent and friendly, apart from on the Saturday morning when it was very busy with weekend golfers, and the normally efficient service became a bit frazzled. We had a few nice meals at Roosters bar with friends and family, possibly overdid the calories a bit but hey, this was a holiday! We even managed a few attempts on the driving range. The surroundings are very picturesque. Overall we had a really memorable week at Morley Hayes, helped I'm sure by great weather, but the hotel was perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in the middle of a big ambitious overseas family holiday.

Room Tip: We are upgraded to a suite but from what we could tell all the rooms were nicely appointed, clean an...

Thank you so much for the lovely review on your weeks stay with us here at Morley Hayes. We are well situated for Derby, Nottingham and the Peak District. Virgin gym is an excellent facility and its good news to hear you took advantage of our complimentary shuttle to and from Virgin.

Roosters Bar serves delicious food so the gym would help burn off the calories - although we do a great range of healthy dishes too!!

This was a much needed break, and from the moment we arrived we were treated to fantastic service in the Hotel reception, we stayed in a Suite which was out of this world!! The attention to detail was second to none..whoever designed the Suite did not stint on cost and superb finish..the bed was the comfiest ever had the privilege to sleep in....deep comfy sofas...good size office area for those needing to conduct business!!...outstanding views over the golf course with doors leading onto a balcony....we were lucky enough to dine in The Dovecote Restaurant, enjoying the award winning food on offer....a true gastronomic delight...and finally finished off our stay in the Dining Room of the Hotel for a fantastic, locally sourced breakfast, served by lovely staff who couldn't do enough for us. We were made to feel like VIP's..a truly memorable stay.

This is the first time we have been to Morley Hayes. We had a meal at Roosters Bar on a Saturday Evening and can highly recommend it. There was a nice atmosphere in Roosters and the surroundings pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was cooked to perfection. We will be going to Roosters again in the not too distant future.

Visited with friends to celebrate a birthday

Began with champagne breakfast, great service and good food. Moved on to Spikes Bar to watch the DCFC v Forest game whilst the girls sat on the balcony overlooking the first tee. Then moved down to the bar and spent the rest of the afternoon and evening in the garden with wine and snacks

Recommended!

Dear Simon

That does sound full day!

The gardens are lovely and we are big followers of football. Being mid way between Derby and Nottingham it can be very vocal when we screen the football in the Spike Bar!
