We stayed in the Rusutsu Resort Tower hotel and headed outside the resort (not far from the main reception, across a car park, right onto a road then left) for dinner at Pirateman several times for a cozy atmosphere and yummy food to include Japanese and some Western selections.
The portions are tapas size so you can order a few plates to share. They also serve a Japanese hotpot (shabu shabu) which looked good but we didn't get to try it out. There's a good selection of drinks to include Chilean wine and sake and their desserts were also delicious - try their double chocolate fudge cake and order it with ice-cream.
Special mention should be made about the hosts at Pirate Man, Anna, Glenn and their chef who were all very kind and friendly.
Be sure to make a booking as they are very busy and I can see why. Don't do what we did the first time and head out into a freezing cold night with no booking. You can find all their details here: http://stayrusutsu.com/our-village/izakaya-pirateman. When we go back to Rusutsu we will definitely return!
