Here is a place where you can find the gold.
It lifts from the very flooring
As you step from the wind to the stillness
It hangs with welcome in the entrance hall
It lies like a shimmer-dust upon the wooden stair
It breathes upon the bedroom comfort of the quilt
It hugs you, washing away all alchemy
Of tense tomorrows, and makes you feel at home
Restored, refreshed, remade.
(adapted from a poem)

A lovely, large, CLEAN, room with a beautiful view. Everything in Westrow Lodge was clean and well looked after. Kathy was a friendly, welcoming and very attentive hostess but not "in your face" which we appreciated.
Nice touches such as making over the bed during the day (which we're not used to as usually stay self-catering).
Plenty for breakfast - good choice of cereals, yoghurt, bacon, eggs etc... and GREAT coffee!!
The location is good being about 1/2 way between Kirkwall and Stromness with stunning views over Scapa Flow and the surrounding countryside - including the antics of local ducks/cats/hares and birds a plenty!
Really nice to have a separate lounge for guests with tea and coffee faciilites, plenty of good/interesting reading material and local information - also with great views.
There was nothing we didn't like!

Kathy and Keith were the warmest and most hospitable of hosts. We felt very at home with them. The rooms were excellent and the food wonderful. A great place to stay!

First stay at Westrow - ideal for Houton Ferry, Kirkwall or Stromness and St Mary's Holm.

very comfortable, plenty of room, great breakfasts, right near the S Isles Ferry and Talisman Ferry and loads of books about Orkney and more.

excellent parking, great views ! great bath and shower after a cold wet day out.

Will certainly stay again on another trip and recommend to friends and family

My friends and I booked in advance for the 5 of us, asking for 3 separate rooms if possible, and we had the entire first floor - three lovely rooms, two of them sharing a large bathroom and one with private facilities, plus a sitting room with tea, coffee ecc, and a fridge - everything just for us!! Bedrooms and bathrooms were always clean and perfect. Ms Kathy is a perfect host, friendly and helpful in suggesting place to visit, dining and giving hints. Great location facing the Scapa Flow, halfway between Stromness - lovely village - and Kirkwall.

This was our first trip to Orkney and Kathy made this six night stay a trip to remember. Kathy was a great hostess, friendly and welcoming and full of information about places to eat and visit. Our favourite eating place was Dil Se - an Indian Restaurant just off the harbour in Kirkwall. Kathy's cooked breakfasts were lovely which set us both up for the day ahead. She had an information sheet available each morning which included weather forecast and tide times. Accommodation was beautiful, positioned between Stromness and Kirkwall in lovely countryside, clean, spacious, well equipped and having lovely views over Scapa Flow, very peaceful. We got clean towels daily if required.
If you visit Orphir Round Kirk - 5 mins away, look out for black/white border collie, he's your own tourist guide. Meets you in car park and takes you a tour of Church, through cemetery, leading to beach and back. Amazing! Kathy has three self catering cottages, 5 mins away from Orphir called Buxa Cottages looking over to Hoy. We would love to stay there next time, although don't fancy making my breakfast!!! Thanks alot Kathy & Keith for your hospitality. Angela & Joe, Tealing, Angus

This is one the best b&b's we've ever stayed in. Extremley comfortable, spacious and well furnished.. Full of character - we're just sorry it's so far from home. Well situated for travelling around - make the trip to Orkney and stay here.
