A very relaxing place with a great view over Scapa Flow Bay. Very comfortable cottage very well-equipped (cooking...). We felt like at home! We look forward to our next visit.

"It was really great to be back, this was our fourth stay at Buxa Farm Chalets.
The accommodation is first rate, clean, comfortable and practical, you will do well to find anything superior to this ! The view from Buxa across the Sound of Hoy on a clear summers evening is amazing – probably one of the most sought after on the Isles.
A warm welcome awaits you at Buxa, an excellent location to base yourself - to explore the rest of the Isles and get a true feel for the unique atmosphere of the Orkney !
We’ll be back again ! “

This modern chalet was very comfortable, warm (we had very variable weather)extremely well equipped and convenient particularly for some of the major archeological sites.
The welcome was very friendly, and Kathy popped in to make sure we had everything we needed and to make sure we had her contact details if anything came to mind.
We didn't manage to do all the "touristy" things but did particularly enjoy Skara Brae & Maeshowe, the Scapa Flow Museum on Hoy (catch the Ferry from Houton as a foot passenger), and the walk to the old man of Hoy (Passenger ferry from Stromness). Stromness in general is really interesting, the gallery fantastic and Flett's the butcher sells the most fantastic beef and local potatoes. We also had a wonderful trip by small plane to North Ronaldsey (seals +++ and gull chicks on the beach), and Papa Westray with the pilot pointng out highlights on other Islands on the way home.
The best thing was the welcome - every shop/pub/craft gallery etc we went into the people were pleased to see you, happy to chat and really helpful. We are already planning our return trip.
The only thing to be aware of is that if you want to eat out, you will have to drive, as there is nowhere close enough to walk, and there is not an over abundance of places to eat.

We were a group of five travelling to attend the St. Magnus Festival and tour Orkney. Great accomodations and tremendous views out the kitchen windows. We even enjoyed the curious cows who watched our comings, goins and walks.

The house was in a fantastic location with easy access to the beach and spectacular views across to Hoy and Stromness. The chalet itself was immaculate and had all the things you need to make it a real home from home. It is ideally located for visiting both the sights and the shops! We hope to visit again soon.

Kathy and Keith had thought of everything to make our holiday special . The wine, fudge and postcards to send home made us feel very welcome. Make sure you bring your binoculars as the birdlife is very varied. Views are stunning, especially in the evening. Will definitely return

We came for a return visit to Buxa Chalets, but as had a larger family with us really appreciated the 3 bedrooms and extra bathroom of the new house.
The views are stunning from the site and the facilities excellent. The owners are close by and so helpful and accommodating.
There are numerous historic places to visit, a fascinating Craft Trail to follow, very friendly folk wherever we went and a calm relaxed atmosphere around. Certainly enjoyed it as much as our first visit.
