As this was not my first trip to Beili Helyg Farm I thought I should take the time to tell others about this wonderful find in the Brecon Beacons. Ideal for walkers, tourists or those just looking for a break from the city. I have barely ever had such a perfect night's sleep away from home before.

Right from arrival Mike and Caroline are welcoming and accommodating the rooms are luxuriously furnished - just look at the photos from others to see for yourself. The room I stayed in this time is called the 'Hay Loft'. As with all the rooms it comes with all the amenities you would expect, power shower en-suite, coffee and tea making facilities, flat screen TV, Freeview etc, but it's the slanting roof and massive wooden bed that does it for me, it makes you feel like you're walking into something amazing. With blackout blinds that give you the ability to let literally no light in you can sleep as long as you like, great for summer visits. Or if you prefer, with the sloping roof you can lie in bed watching the stars overhead. With their nearest neighbours being about a mile away you don't have to worry about light pollution or noise spoiling your sleep.

Mike and Caroline have lived in the area for years so know the intricacies of the locality, giving advice on the best walking spots, quirky local cafe's, restaurants and country pubs that just adds to each visit.

In the morning we had a wonderful full cooked breakfast, far superior than most I have had elsewhere. The bacon is more like gammon, the sausages, as with all that they cook, are bought supporting British farmers and cooked to perfection, which makes for the perfect start to the day.

In short, I can fault them on nothing in this well set out, welcoming and warm B&B. If you want somewhere with charm, character and with hosts who go the extra mile to look after you, I would certainly recommend Beili Helyg - indeed I already have to friends and family alike!

Hello EddieM85, thank you so much for the fantastic review, you are very kind. We love having you to stay, and look forward to your next visit..

Giving guests fabulous sleep quality and home comforts is something we strive for. We do have the added advantage of living in a very peaceful part of the world, but we have also tried to make each room individually beautiful as well as warm and comfortable as possible. The beds have 1500 pocket sprung mattresses, which should give you a really good night's sleep. The beams in the upstairs rooms are the original ones we found when we renovated the barns, and have just been cleaned and waxed so their natural beauty can be seen.

We pride ourselves on providing delicious breakfasts, which includes our own eggs, (you can choose from hen or duck), local bacon, and award winning welsh sausages. There is always homemade jams and marmalade available, the jams are made from fruit we grow ourselves. This year we have had an amazing fruit harvest, so Caroline will be over the jam saucepan again this weekend making blackcurrant jam.

Many thanks again for the fab review.
Warmest regards
Mike & Caroline

Mike and Caroline are great hosts; welcoming and friendly. The accommodation is clean and comfortable and has been renovated to a very high standard. The food is excellent and freshly baked cake is a big draw for me! The local walks to the Brecon waterfalls are breathtaking and Mike and Caroline were invaluable with their advice on where to go. Can't fault my stay there and look forward to my third visit soon. Thank you for a relaxing and peaceful stay.

Hello Kathryn C, thank you so much for the lovely review. It is always a pleasure to welcome you to Beili Helyg. I recall you visited the waterfall Sgwd Gwladys, which is a particular favorite for us, especially at this time of year when you can take a dip in the pool beneath the waterfall. Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Warmest regards, Caroline & Mike

Beili Helyg is the perfect place to stay for a relaxing weekend getaway. The location is remote enough to feel cut off from the rest of the world, despite being within easy reach of local towns and villages. The rooms have been done up beautifully, the beds are very comfortable, and the food is excellent. With Mike and Caroline, you truly feel as though you are among friends. In the local area you can go walking, horseriding or wild swimming, visit Brecon for a spot of lunch or shopping, or take a tour of the Penderyn whisky distillery. Highly recommended - will return.

Hello littlegreenfrog28, we were delighted to welcome you to Beili Helyg, and we were really pleased you enjoyed your time with us. I recall you particularly liked the horse riding, We are spoilt for choice with riding stables in all directions, who cater for all grades of rider, and some have indoor schools for when the weather turns against us. My particular favorite rides are where you go out on to the moors and mountains themselves, it's just fabulous and you see the beautiful scenery from a completely different perspective, We very much look forward to seeing you again soon. Hello Jan B, thank you so much for the kind review. We were very pleased to welcome you to Beili Helyg, and so glad you enjoyed your stay. You were almost the last guests before we closed in Sept for the refurbishments, which are now well underway. If you able to come and visit us again in 2013 you will be able to appreciate our new look. We anticipate opening in last week of May. Warmest regards Mike & Caroline

After reading so many good reviews we thought Beili Helyg must be too good to be true.... But it's better! Perfectly situated on the hills, remote enough to be peaceful and relaxing but close enough to local towns and villages so that with a car you can get to everything you need easily. We stayed here for the Brecon Jazz Festival and it took us 20 mins to drive to Brecon town, 10 mins to Merthyr, with the villages of Penderyn and Hirwaun just down the road.
The living areas are stunning and full of character, and our room, The Stable, was fantastic. It was a bonus to be able to access the back garden through the adjoining child's room to enjoy the morning sun, and the views out there are to die for. I was a little dubious initially about 2 twin beds being pushed together to make a double (had visions of someone falling down the gap!) but it was the most comfortable bed ever, and to sleep on you would never know it wasn't a normal queen size bed! There was nothing Mike and Caroline hadn't thought of, from shampoo and shower gel in the well-designed spotless bathroom, to books and dvds (which we didn't need as the weather was glorious but can imagine a lovely cosy stay in the winter, would love to see that wood burner roaring!) and the tasty homemade bara brith on a tray next to the bed with a selection of teas and coffee which was a lovely touch.
Breakfast was delicious and we felt very pampered by Caroline tending to our needs, and very impressed by the locally sourced produce and the overall environmentally friendly self-sustainability of Beili Helyg.
There was plenty of information on walks to do in the National Park, and Mike + Caroline offered invaluable advice on this subject (we completed the full circuit of the Waterfall Walk guys, got a bit lost and took slightly longer than the anticipated 6 hours but we loved every minute of it!)
We felt really relaxed here, it really did feel like a home from home... The only cause for disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer!! Will definitely be going back, come rain or shine this place is a gem. Thank you so much for our stay!

Hi EI084, thank you so much for the fantastic review. It was wonderful to meet you and welcome you to Beili Helyg. It is great to know that what we do is appreciated. The Stable is a really versatile room, with views to east and west, and it's own door to the garden. We pride ourselves on having extra comfortable beds (1500 pocket sprung mattresses), which can only help guests with their relaxation and enjoyment of their time away from home,
We very much look forward to your return visit. Kind regards Caroline & Mike

We stayed at Beikli Helyg Guest House last weekend and it was outstanding! The room was spotless 'I could even had my dinner on the bathroom floor'. The Caroline and Mike are very welcoming and friendly, the breakfast was delicious. In the room we had teas and coffees facilities with 2 pieces of freshly baked cakes which was a very nice touch. I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a very peaceful and high quality B&B for a weekend in the Beacon National Park. It was the best B&B I stayed in. Thank you again!!

This is my first time writing a review here, but after staying at Beili Helyg I just had to express how outstanding our stay was. The property is so well looked after, you can tell that Mike and Caroline have, and continue to put their heart and soul into the B&B. The rooms are spotless and wonderfully cared for. The breakfast was delicious every day. And we were really impressed by the eagerness of Mike and Caroline to help us plan our daily activities. They helped us plan a wonderful walk right from their doorstep, and even let us borrow an OS map and compass to aid in our journey (which was massivly helpful as we took a few wrong turns!) And then the following day when our legs and feet were too tired for another walk, they helped us come up with ideas for other places to visit in the area. And we loved Spud the cat!
We really enjoyed our stay there and felt like Mike and Caroline were genuinely pleased to be such generous hosts. We would recommend this B&B to anyone and everyone!

Hi hjones2697, we're very impressed you liked us so much you joined trip advisor to tell everyone. It was wonderful to have you to stay, and we were impressed you came from Scotland to sample Welsh whiskey at the distillery in Penderyn.

We make every effort to ensure people get a good time here, and if we can help guests with ideas of what to do and see, then we will. We both were born and grew up in this area and have an in depth knowledge of it's secret places and charms, and really enjoy helping guests discover these for themselves.

Thank you again for the fantastic review. Kind regards, Caroline & Mike.
