“Smelly, old room, ancient furniture, even older bathroom”
Reviewed August 20, 2010

Clean would be a positive. No grime or dirt anywhere but the room they stuck me in (room 7 and at the SINGLE room rate of 100 euros) was old as dirt, completely bland, nothing matched, a retarded metal suitcase rack that looked like it survived the war and then some. Bathroom featured pink tile from the 50's and linolieum to match. Not complaining too much here, older can be cute but for 100 euros single? (130 Swiss Franks) Too expensive.
The check in receptionist was great, the gal in the afternoon snooty x 10. Like all things Swiss, they charge for everything: You want a hairdryer? Leave a 30 euro deposit. Want a swiss electrical connector? 20 Euro deposit. No TV in room, radio looks like something my grandparents had when I was a child. Restaurant was good but again expensive. Wiener schnitzel and french fries for 49 Swiss Franks? They have to be kidding. Nice beer garden outside with lots of road noise but pretty view. Location is central and a short walk to the train station. I am underwhelmed by the place. If the price would have matched the quality It would have been OK but this place is out of whack.

This was a return trip that was 45 years overdue and I was excited in visiting the area which had made a lasting impression when I visited with my school back in 1960s. This time I visited with my husband. The hotel was superb in every respect: friendly and very, very helpful staff, excellent room (we had requested a room with a view of the Jungfrau at the time of booking and we were not disappointed). The food was fantastic and my husband, who is a chef, was delighted at the choice, presentation and dishes presented each evening. Also, because we were not able to have the horse drawn carriage trip as included in our holiday, we were each given a packed lunch every day which was fresh and tasty. Unexpectedly, we were presented with them on our day of departure which was a lovely gesture as we had a total journey of about 8 hours. We cannot recommend the hotel highly enough and cannot wait to return but much sooner than another 45 years - hopefully next or the following year and we will stay at the Beausite again. It was in a lovely location and had a fabulous garden with loungers.

We stayed for ten nights in June - this being the second visit, our first being 12 months earlier. The overall experience is relaxing, comfortable and satisfying. The room was excellent, beds superb, and bathroom large and immaculately clean. The service is good without being gushing or pushy - all information given quickly and efficiently when required. The food is first class - we were half board - although the breakfast is perhaps a little restricted. The location is great, very quiet, but only five minutes walk from Interlaken West station, with views from the front to the Jungfrau and from the rear over a charming garden to the mountains (and the hangliders). All in all an excellent holiday.

I read all the reviews detailing the strange smells in the rooms and the stained carpets and dated decor BUT decided to risk it because of the location. I wish I hadn't now. We left the windows open during the day in the hope that the smell wouldn't be so bad but at night the noise from the busy main road meant that we had to close the windows and the shutters and we still needed cotton wool in our ears.During the night the smell became really unbearable. I asked if we could move to a quieter room at the back but the extemely snooty receptionist was vey rude and sarcastic and said that there was no noise and the road was not a main one and was very quiet!! She should have heard it when the Japanese tours congregated right under our window at 6.30a.m. (four tours arrived and departed during the week) ...it was bedlam!! The breakfasts were quite good though and the views amazing. We thought 20 SF rather a lot to hire a hair dryer for the week.

I booked this hotel after seeing their web site and got a great deal online through otel.com. but I was skeptical after reading tripadvisor reviews complaining about bad smell, shared bathrooms. Upon reaching Interlaken we found the hotel very close to Interlaken west station. We had reached at about 10.a.m. whereas the checkin time was 3.00 pm. Reception was efficient. our luggage was kept in backoffice . It was Sunday so we were offered brunch. Brunch spread was great.

We came back after a small tour. Our Luggage had been sent to our room. When we entered our room. Wow what a view. Windows were facing Jungfraujoch. They have all the necessary literature related to tour and excursions at reception.

Next day the breakfast spread was basic, but nice and filling. We had dinner for cheese fondue at Hotel resturant which has part covered and part open. We sat in open are and what a view while having Dinner. The tops of snow clad mountain lit up with the light of setting sun. Resturant staff was pleasent polite but had a lot of problem in understanding English.

Only negative point is the Hotel construction is a bit old, and we had booked a double room and got a twin room.

But the view from hotel and vacinity to city center overcomes everything

this is a nice Bed and Breakfast kind of Hotel being run by a family. the rooms are basic but clean. the view from the Hotel is beautiful. the breakfast spread is basic but filling. the hotel is located about 7 mins walking from the station and if you dont have too much luggage, you can easily reach the place. the staff is friendly and will help you out with the directions.

A nice Hotel, situated in a quiet location, but within easy walking distance of town centre.
The staff could not have been more friendly, or more helpful. We went for the Lauberhorn
Ski race weekend,so ordered our race tickets, and rail tickets, to Wengen from the U.K,
through the Hotel. These were waiting for us upon arrival.
The room was clean and comfortable with great views of the mountains. The breakfasts
offered a good selection of cereals, yoghurt's,meats, cheeses and jams.
The evening meals were adequate, and plentiful.
All in all a most enjoyable stay, A Hotel to be recommended.
