“Wonderful time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2012

The setting, the biking, the food and the sites were beyond our expectations. A group of 9 of us had the barn for 10 days of biking and exploring the area. The routes were well planned with excellent maps to follow and each day took us in a different direction to a special point of interest. On nonbiking days w did wine tasting and visited a cave. The dinners were all delicious featuring regional fare. The hosts, John and Aileen couldn't have been more accomodating. A wonderful experience that we will be talking about for a long time.

A truly fantastic experience! The accomadations we wonderful with gourmet meals provided. (and wine!) The Lot is breathtakingly beautiful. Bike routes are well planned and can be adjusted to you liking. We highly recommend this experience! We had three "free" days planned in with the biking and visited the caves with ancient paintings, and did wine tours to break up the biking days.

Room Tip: The room on the main floor is the largest, there are 3 rooms with queen beds upstairs and one with t...

A beautiful home in a beautiful setting! Lovely, peaceful and totally breathtaking. We love the meals here too!!! Dinner was just so good. As my sister and I failed to successfully cycle around Lot, we took walks instead and the little villages around this part is just so gorgeous. Not to be missed!

This was our second stay on an Easter bicycling break. As previously, great cycling routes with fantastic food and accommodation. And some wine :-)

Easter is the start of the season in the Lot, so things are still a little bit sleepy, which is nice. John finds the roads less travelled for biking, yet often conjures up some architectural wonder at the end of the route for exploration. This region is spoiled for history and scenery. Routes can be chosen or adjusted to suit your biking style and preferences.

Ailleen provides great evening meals (and much, much more) - you need to be active to do the food justice. The rooms are large and the beds comfortable. There are a couple of common lounge areas and a lovely deck outside with views over the fields to woods (very private).

We'll be back!

If you are looking for a peaceful rural base from which to explore the Lot and Dordogne or just looking for a little solitude during a busy trip, you can't do any better than Mas de Flory. Off the beaten track but with plenty to see not far away and lots of cycling options for the young and young at heart. Let John be your cycling guide and be sure to take advantage of Aileen's great food. Or, just meander around the scenic countryside by car or on foot. For star gazers, all I can say is WOW! I've seen many great night skies but never like what I saw one starry night from the deck at Mas de Flory. Thank you John & Aileen for sharing your home and your passion for this remarkable bit of France.

The quality of our experience was truly remarkable. The rooms were very well furnished and spotless. The location is beautiful and to top it all both Ayleen and John welcomed us with open arms.

We only have one complaint. We had to leave to go home!

Room Tip: They are all good rooms.
