“Breathtaking views from chateau de queribus”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

The castle is reached by a challenging twisty mountain road and care needs to be taken particularly on the hair pin bends. Beautiful scenery all around.
At the car park there are toilets and a small shop selling limited refreshments. There is an entrance fee of between 3 and 6 euros.
The walk is steep but easily manageable. Walking shoes or trainers are needed as there is a lot of scree and worn, polished stone steps.
At times due to the height and location of the castle on the mountain it can be closed to visitors.
There is limited information given with the ticket and signs in the castle are written in French. For those who prefer there is an audio guide for extra cost.
Stunning views of the surrounding countryside from all sides, including the chateau de peyrepertuse on a nearby cliff. Wasn't overcrowded even in the height of summer and allowed you to find quiet spaces where you could imagine what life must have been like when the castle was inhabited.
Well worth a visit

“Breathtaking building and views”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

An amazing building, it's position on a craggy pinnacle looks impressive on photos, but that just doesn't prepare you for the actual experience, how on earth did they build it there? There's a good amount of the castle to explore, including rooms with intact ceilings and staircases, the mason's skill in the vaulted roof is incredible for its age. The 360 degree panoramic views from the top are spectacular, you can see nearby Peyrepertuse castle, also well worth a visit, but best to do this one first.

“Stunning views and history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

From the moment you first see it as you approach from a distance and when you arrive at the foot of it we were enthralled. What a vantage point! A hard climb and steep, certainly for this pensioner, so sensible shoes are a must. We also had a gusting wind to contend with and they recommend you take extra care in those conditions. It is a ruin but there is still enough to hold your interest once up there so well worth the effort.

“Worth the effort!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2013

The climb seems daunting at first, but once you start it goes reasonably smoothly, especially if you stop a couple of times to take in the scenery! The castle itself isn't that special, but the view from the top is breath-taking.

Don't start the climb if you don't have a decent pair of shoes on and the climb, visit and descent takes about 90mins, so take some water.
