“Fabulous villa, excellent location, wonderful owners!!”
Reviewed July 12, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

A wonderful build up to our holiday with friendly and useful information about the villa and location supplied by Christine and Eric. We received a lovely warm welcome to the villa from our hosts and all our needs met beyond our dreams. The villa is amazing. Fantastic location across the road from a beautiful beach and within an easy stroll to amenities and local restaurants. Beautiful and original features throughout the villa and lovely secluded gardens in which to relax and enjoy. Every home comfort catered for from washing machine to coffee machine; DVDs to english tea!!! We made use of the bicycles to explore and there are a variety of garden games for all to enjoy. We would retire there in an instance! Beautiful villages close by and short drive into Arcachon. We had one of the best holidays ever at the villa and would rate it 10+++. We will be returning at the soonest opportunity and feel truly blessed to have found such a beautiful place. We also feel we have made new and wonderful friends in Christine and Eric. They are exceptional hosts.

“Perfect house and location”
Reviewed March 28, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Our stay in La Cigale was just perfect ! Christine and Eric are very friendly. Christine answered all my questions before our arrrival, and she even bought some baby stuff for our stay. The house was perfectly clean when we arrived, very well furnished. We had 2 days of rain but it was very nice to enjoy this lovely house and chill out inside. The location is great for children, only a street to cross to be on the beach, only a few Km from la Dune du Pyla, and shops 5min away with a bike.
Bikes and beach games were available, which was very appreciable.
Only one word to conclude our stay at La Cigale : PERFECT.
We will be back !

“The most perfect little house in the most perfect seaside town in France”
Reviewed September 20, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

The house is owned and run by an Anglo French couple Christine and Eric. They both obviously adore the house and look after it and looked after us beautifully. The instructions on how to get to the house were spot on, easy to follow and provided well ahead of the actual journey. Christine was at the house to meet us and took us through everything we needed to know from details such as what day the rubbish and recycling is collected to where the circuit breakers are if one tripped (non did). The cooking facilities are in the house are great; proper heavy pans, a full set of decent sharp knives, mixing bowls, microwave, weighing scales everythng you could want. We used the Intermarche in La Teste for grocery shopping which is marvellous, great produce and just about everything else you could possibly want. It's about a 10 minute drive.
The house is 30 seconds walk from a very sheltered beach that is pure sand and a very shallow angle making it very safe for children, but the current is fierce so they will need to be supervised. The Dune de Pyla is just down the road and is a sight to behold. The dune is 107 metres high and about 2 km long the biggest in Europe have a look at it on Google earth it's a whopper and is magical. Cap Ferret is a short ferry ride across the 'bassin' and is a charming spit of land with a sheltered bay on one side, exclusive houses in the middle and the wild swell of the Bay of Biscay/Atlantic on the other. When you get there rent a bicycle there are many places to do so, and cycle around its amazing. We didn't eat out much but the oyster shack De Grave in Cap Ferret is a favourite, the Corniche for drinks and a dinner on the terrace overlooking the dune, and Molleaux is just right for lazy drinks and a bite to eat. I

“Lovely villa, perfect location with lots to do!”
Reviewed September 8, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

The villa is really well equipped and across the road from the bay. You can cycle everywhere from this location. The cycle paths are really well done and everywhere. Close by are lovely beaches, the giant sand dunes and many restaurants and bars. A great place to visit with kids since there is so much, at little cost, to keep them entertained.

“Villa Cigale is outstanding”
Reviewed August 28, 2015 for a stay in August 2014

We have taken holiday rentals in Pyla-sur-Mer for the past 11 years and Villa Cigale is by far the best we have found. It is a beautiful property full of architectural character, light and airy, and tastefully decorated and furnished. It is maintained to a very high standard, spotlessly clean, and all services and facilities are as described on the website. It is excellently placed for the beach and local amenities, and with a lovely garden front and rear. There is ample room to park within the property. The owners are friendly and accommodating without being at all intrusive. I would love to stay at Villa Cigale again.

“Wonderful!”
Reviewed August 25, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Wonderful, well maintained villa with the utmost attention to detail in stunning Pyla sur Mer. The sea is a walk across the road and you have a beautiful long sandy beach that stretches for miles with the view of Pyla dune to the left and the beautiful Cap Feret on the horizon.
Fantastic location, near an array of beautiful beaches. For those who fancy a spot of exercise, there s a cycle track right in front of the house which runs for miles right along the coastline.
There are a few shops at Pyla sur Mer , however if you walk ten minutes further you will reach Le Moulleau a trendy bustling area full of restaurants, amazing ice cream parlours and some fancy boutiques. Well worth a visit are Dune de Pyla and Cap Feret, we also liked the family Laguna beach a few miles away. The owner Christine greets each family on arrival and is such a lovely lady who made us feel most welcome. She really has thought of everything and you can pack quite lightly and then discover the garage abound with ding hys, body boards, flippers, toys, balls, tennis rackets and all the beach paraphernalia you ll ever need!
A stunning villa in a wonderful location - full of French so you won t hear a word of English during your stay. Isn t that what holidays are all about?

“Laid back & lovely!”
Reviewed May 30, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

I have just returned from a weeks holiday at Villa Cigale with a smile on my face and a warm glow on my skin...(partly from the sunny weather and partly from my general sense of well-being!) Booked the property for my partner & myself plus another couple of friends without really knowing what to expect as none of us had set foot near this part of France before.. I'm delighted to say we were all very pleasantly surprised with both the villa & its location. Set amongst a green and well-cared for garden on the long ocean road that follows the beach along the coast, the villa is a true delight.. It has been carefully and thoughtfully furnished by the owner to provide clean & comfortable accommodation with a welcoming home from home atmosphere.. (not too much personal stuff everywhere that takes up all the room and breaks easily, but useful things like beach equipment, a washing machine, patio furniture, DVD's & a well-stocked book shelf). I particularly liked the fact there was a separate dining room where we could lay up the large table with all our locally purchased food & wine before spending a long evening eating & chatting in a comfortable and pleasant surroundings. The standard of cleanliness was exceptional, with freshly laundered linen and towels provided along with a welcome pack containing loo roll, washing powder & other handy stuff! The beach is literally over the road & as long as the tide's on your side it's a lovely 30 minute stroll along the sand up to shops & cafes of Molleau (?) for a morning coffee and obligatory croissant!! Lots to see and do in the surrounding area.. We had a great day shopping & eating in the nearby spa town of Arcachon, drove round to the wild coastline of Cap Ferert, clambered up the largest sand dune in Europe and sat drinking wine on our terrace overlooking the lovely garden and listening to the sound of the sea! Bordeaux is also worth a visit, easily reached by train from Arcachon where we then hired bikes for the day from the cycle scheme operating in the City.. Hoping to all get back to Villa Cigale again later on in the year so we can take advantage of the beach a bit more and the equipment the villa thoughtfully provides for a few fun / lazy days on the sand...(hopefully the sea might be warmer then too!!!!)
