Just what we were after. A not too fancy, relaxing well run pub with good food and an excellent drink range. This place can be as relaxed as you want it to be depending on where you sit. Lots of hard working staff and room for a good number of drinkers and diners. Everything from cafe to more formal dining, even an icecream freezer for the kids (or our dessert). Overlooking the beach the location is top class. Skip Lorne and come here instead.

Simply wonderful view from the room and balcony, can even lay in bed and see the ocean. Sleeping at night to sounds of crashing waves.
very basic motel room, clean and attempts made to upgrade with attractive bed covering, leather sofa and some modern prints. Clean and comfortable for a short stay.
Management really need to replace ancient television, an Aldi $140 one surely wouldn't break the bank !
No airconditioning, which probably isn't needed 95% of the year but we were there in a heatwave and the daytime was very uncomfortable , luckily cooled down in the evening with the sea breeze
At a nightly rate of $220 , would expect airconditioning, but we were happy to pay that rate for peak season just for the wonderful view.
Will review the hotel restaurant separately , not such a pleasant experience there unfortunately :(

We stayed for a night during our trip on the Great Ocean Road. The rooms were very basic and the sofas and beds could so with an update. The mattresses were worn out and the sofa cushions need new covers.

The views were superb and the location is ideal for a stop over.

Unfortunately the restaurant was closed when we stayed but the General Store is close and offers great food too.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The meals were good; the lamb shanks were absolutely delicious. The view was stunning and it was nice in bed listening to the waves. We will return!

We stopped for a night while on great ocean road.
The room were ok but we loves the sea view and a bar right next to the room. There is free wifi in the bar area and the kitchen serves really good food.
I read with surprise of reviews the bar closes early and they have to miss dinner. We had our dinner just before 8pm and were drinking and chatting till almost 9.45pm. When we left the kitchen was still busy servings.
The owner (a lady) was really friendly and easy going.
The only thing I didn't like is insufficient heater in the room or should I say the heater could have been better placed.
Will certainly recommend this place for travelers who love to chill out with good food and beer or two after a long drive on the road.

Visited the Wye Beach Hotel after many years and was not disappointed - the natural beauty of the area is truly spectacular with views of the rugged coastline and beautiful beach from dining tables , both inside and out.

Tried some local beers from 2 local breweries in the Otways - Prickly Moses and Forrest which were varied in their flavours and well worth the exploration. Meals were extremely well presented and we shared a particularly good entree of char grilled scallops with pureed cauliflower and proscuitto. My main of lamb was a little over cooked for my tastes.

Unfortunately , the Wye River Cafe had closed the weekend before for its winter sojourn but the General Store was still serving beautiful coffees. Can also highly recommend the vegetable pasties they sell with great pastry and a mountain of vegetables in them - just the right balance of pastry vs vegetables. The cafe / restaurant re-opens in early September.

The Wye River / Separation Creek area was an easy walk and is abundant with birdlife - kookaburras , parrots , finches , blue wrens , etc so a birdlovers delight. Whales were also in the area but we didn't have binoculars.

Accommodation in the area is not cheap ( if renting a house ) so be prepared.

I have been here on three occasions and each time incorrectly assumed the food and service will have improved.

The menu is limited, overpriced and service deplorable. Nice view but do yourself a favour and eat elsewhere.
