“Ireland is beautiful in the sunshine”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

Just back from a beautiful week in Donegal. Our base was our Coast Guard Cottage at Downing's. We stayed there before about 2 years ago and the standard is exactly the same. Clean, bright and ready for our stay. Verity welcomed us and then left us to our own devices, leaving us with info and phone numbers in case we needed anything, we did not want for anything, there are plenty of dishes, cutlery, clean fresh towels and linen and sorry to mention it again but so clean and tidy. The cottage is easy to keep even when we came back each day covered in sand from the beautiful beaches in the area...Thanks Verity and hope to get back again, Donegal has become part of me........

Room Tip: Ask for a cottage with a view of the beautiful bay.

Booked cottage for a weekend at beginning of february. Two families stayed together found accommodation very spacious. Completely delighted that on arival was greeted by a beautiful clean and warm home. We have travelled around Ireland for the past 12 years and this was the first time we found the accommodation so clean. Congratulations to the staff who look after this property, job well done. Again the home was lovely and warm which was great considering location in the winter which made the stay all the more pleasent . Kids were delighted with the great wyfi connection. I wasn't sure how a weekend away at this time would work out but i would have no reservations booking this place again the area is very quaint with lovely welcoming people and great eating places in the area. The natural beauty of this place words would not express. Had a marvellous weekend would recommend to anyone.

Absolutely loved our weeks stay at the Coastguard cottages. Accommodation was of a very high standard and the views were breath taking. Everyone was helpful and genuiely friendly. The food at the golf club was excellent and Verity has vouchers to make it competitively priced.

If you want to walk on great beaches and enjoy the countryside then I strongly recommend giving this part of the world a try.
It did help that we had great weather but even on the couple of overcast days there is still lots of places to explore. We also got to take dogs which was great for the kids.

Dear Guest, thank you for your extremely positive review on your recent holiday spent with us. Your comments are appreciated in relation to your accommodation and we are glad that you and your family chose to avail of the subsidised meal arrangements at Rosapenna Pavilion [Golf Club] that are exclusive to Downings Coastguard Cottage guests. We hope the dogs enjoyed the beach walks as much as you and the children did!

This was our third year at the Coastguard Cottages. We stayed in No.15, a Type C cottage. This cottage benefits from fantastic views, over looking the beach and surrounding areas. As repeat visitors, we have always found the house to be more than adequate for the needs of seven of us. It is modern, well maintained, very clean, and any special requests or extras required are not a problem. We were even able to bring our beloved dog! I must say that the staff; Verity, Noel, Seamus and Angie have always proved to be very affiable and accomodating, which makes you feel very welcome. On all three occasions, we have benefited from excellent weather, and this really makes the holiday complete! The tennis court in the middle of the complex proved to be a hit with all, young and old! The location of the Coastguard Cottages is an excellent base for those interested in water sports, or who want to explore further afield. We certainly would love to return next year, all being well! Thanks for a fantastic stay!

Dear Guest, it was good to have you all back with us again recently on your return visit to Downings Coastguard Cottages. Well done on finding plenty of things to do when the weather was not the best! Thankfully our part of Donegal has several attractions to keep little ones occupied when they cannot get to the beach. However we are glad that the sun did come out on a few occasions and that you were able to enjoy and appreciate our spectacular beaches and scenery.
Hopefully see you all again next year!
