This was our fourth visit and amazingly it was even better than before! From the warm and genuine welcome, to the sad farewell, we experienced 4 days of bliss. The setting is magnificent, the facilities world class (and we have lots of international travel to compare it to), the meals superb and the service personal yet professional. We must say that the champagne sundowner of the new deck overlooking the sea was perhaps the highlight. We can't wait to return!

During our most recent visit to South Africa visited the Wild Coast for the first time, and after some research decided to stay at Prana Lodge in Chintsa. This is a beautiful area and the lodge is set in extensive grounds with direct access to the beach, the site has been tastefully and sensitively developed to a high standard, and our large suite was for the most part well designed and furnished to a high standard.
Given this investment in quality it is unfortunate that our experience fell below the five star standards we had expected. From the outset there was a lack of attention to detail with very poor housekeeping in readiness for our arrival, some of these were rectified promptly, but for example it was not until the third day of our three day visit that we moved from no towels on arrival to a full set.
We booked on a dinner bed and breakfast basis which suits us, as we like to spend our days walking or visiting the immediate area, and we rarely take lunch. On our first full day we decided to go for a walk on the beach, at Chintsa this means a long walk, and we arrived back at the lodge at about 2:30pm ready for a cold drink and a refreshing shower. We were somewhat surprised to discover that we had been “expected for lunch”, and dinner would only be a “light meal”. At no point had we been informed of this arrangement, and that evening we had to settle for two small prawns or a sliver of smoked salmon followed by a salad for our Christmas day meal. Sitting on our own in the corner of the bar, albeit a nice bar, as it appears all the other guests had been informed of the special arrangements. Initially we received apologies from the young management team, but the next morning these appeared to receive no support from the owner who adopted a rather dismissive approach.
The other meals we had were quite good without being exceptional, and certainly not to the standard achieved by many other hotels and restaurants in South Africa.
Prana Lodge has the potential to be a wonderful place to stay, at the moment it is falling short.

Dear Peak Travellers12

Thank you for submitting your review on the 12th January 2012. I would like to extend my sincere apologies and deep regret to you following your personal disappointment and frustration experienced during your recent stay at Prana Lodge.

We have taken your feedback very seriously and will ensure that the obvious missed communication that occurred over the Christmas meal and lack of attention to detail in the housekeeping department, is used as a learning experience for myself and my staff as we continue to strive for the ambitious goal of delighting our guests by exceeding their expectations.

I do hope that the next time you visit South Africa you will return to our beautiful beach estate that we are so passionate about, and afford us the opportunity to make good.
I wish you both a very happy and healthy 2012.

Kind regards
Gail Davidson (owner)

From the moment you arrive at Prana, you are met with the most incredible service. This coupled with an incredible setting and exquisite facilities ensures an environment conducive to strategic thinking and planning. The attentive service and incredible cuisine adds that special flavour to what is already an exceptional experience. The suites are certainly some of the best appointed and furnished that I have experienced in South Africa and the facilities match the consistent high standard. Finally the world class Spa and the incredible beach wrapped up our memories of and exceptional event. Well done to Gail & Tim on creating a little piece of heaven on earth.

Prana Lodge is an idyllic destination. The service is top class, the boutique suites are exquitsite. This must go on your "bucket list"! You have not experienced luxury until you have been to Prana Lodge!

Prana Lodge is better than a 5 star destination! Can't wait to go back.

Prana Lodge was the only Spa I could find listed on the internet and based in East London South Africa. Needless to say I was very nervous - I have too often been lured by a picture taken with good lighting only to find the accommodation resembling scenes from a horror story!!

What A Treat!!!

Tucked into the natural vegetation of the East London Coastline, in Cintsa , is this beautiful gem - indeed, I think it is East London's best kept secret!

As luck would have it, I missed my flight from Johannesburg to East London, so the arrangements made for the next day to celebrate a 50th birthday were thrown off kilter - not a problem for Prana Lodge. Everything was rearranged without question and without complaint - A most glorious Sunday Morning was spent being massaged by able Thai hands in the exquisite surroundings of the Lodge followed by a scrumptious brunch in the fabulous garden at Prana Lodge.

The brunch was superb and the cappuchino's deletable.

It takes vision to create what is - Prana Lodge. To create out of the natural environment this sactuary, to be able to see it in your minds eye and then make it real... what an amazing gift. The natural vegetation has been largely undistrubed and certain areas have been tamed and neatened just enough for effect.

The deck overlooking the ocean is a sight to behold! I believe it is available for sundowners and private dinners - maybe the ideal place for a honeymoon or a wedding anniversary.

Thank you Prana Lodge for a wonderful morning and a great way to round off a milestone brithday!

My wife and I loved our stay at Prana Lodge. The tranquil settings and friendly staff added to the luxuary accommodation and gorgeous meals. The wellness centre was equally fantastic. A "Necker Island" experience right in the Eastern Cape. Recommended without hesitation.

Don't look any further.
This is the ultimatum of luxury and comfort.
The owners, Tim and Gail Davidson, certainly know how to spoil their guests!
The suites are beautiful, the food and service is unbeatable.

The endless beaches of the Wild Coast are also unique.

We enjoyed our stay inmensely and will certain come back.
