“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2013

Good family run Hotel

Rooms in the old part of the hotel are a bit basic and could do with modernisation, the newer rooms are fine. Food is great and there is plenty of parking (see photos ). I have stayed hear 3 times in the last 5 years and will haply return.

We stopped three nights on the way to Switzerland, the food was very french as you would expect and local the wine list very good. there was a very good pool we just not have the time to use it as we where exploring every day. the staff were very attentive and looked after us very well. the hotel is in the abbaye buildings and has a lot of the old qaint charm of the era. we would stop there again without question. jag21traveller

An excellent hotel good rooms swimming pool Very good traditional french food friendly staff pleasant location, reasonably priced. We normally stay in Dijon but the hotel we got to was full so we were dissapointed however if toyou know the road between Dijon and Troyes you will know what lovely countrydide you drive through and this hotel is only about 20 mins from Dijon. A real find and thoroughly reccommended

Very nice little hotel. Our room on the first floor overlooked the courtyard. No noise from the road at all. My only criticism is the very soft mattress. Our evening meal in the restaurant was very good and priced reasonably at Euro 24. Breakfast too was very good. Internet is free and very fast. We highly recommend this establishment.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the ground floor. It is then likely to a very large room (usually for wheel-chair...

We stayed here en route to Switzerland as a cheaper alternative to hotels south of Dijon. The room was really good and so was the service. The only problem came with the meal, all courses of which turned up just too quickly. Both main courses were unmistakably just overdone and the service turned distinctly brisk. Our treatment was okay but a single German girl got a very chilly reception which we found both unnecessary and unprofessional. The white wines in particular are excellent.
A cheaper and almost as good alternative, with a rustique menu, can be found a few yards down the road at the Auberge Campagnarde.

Room Tip: I imagine all are good.

Lovely place - cannot believe it was so cheap. We had a lovely room with a terrace where we could sit out in the sun with a drink overlooking the pretty courtyard. There is a swimming pool which seemed extraordinary for something in this price range (we paid something like 50 Euros for our room) and we played table tennis (it would be a great place for kids). We were only there for one night and wanted to eat out so cannot comment on the restaurant but we had a good breakfast and the staff were all very nice and friendly. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for bedroom with terrace.

I can't believe I'm the first to write about this lovely place! It's in a tiny little village called Saint Seine l'Abbaye which is very close to the sources of the river Seine, Alise St. Reine, Flavigny and other interesting places. Their own abbey is a must see.

The old and very quaint hotel is being refurbished as we speak and we had two rooms that had just finished, you could still smell the pain. My room (a double) was HUGE, and gorgeous. Wonderful modern bathroom, excellent bed, beautiful wooden floor, flatscreen tv and a few antique pieces. No luxuries like AC or minibar but who cares, the shutters and the thick old walls keep the room fresh and where better to go than the gorgeous terrace for a drink. The staff is so lovely and friendly, it really feels like a family home. Dinner was good, my ginea fowl a bit dry but otherwise everything was delicious.

I would definitely come back here if I have the chance.

  • Liked — The friendliness and the room
  • Disliked — can't think of any!
