“It's almost there...”
Reviewed April 22, 2014

Lakeview Hecla is a nice resort that needs a few changes to make it outstanding. The plusses are decent food at a reasonable price, great restaurant staff, a spacious room that was clean where it counts, an inviting large pool area, an enormous seating area downstairs to play games, read, etc, and the setting, which is beautiful and has lots to do.
Things to work on: The spa was closed and the hot tub was not working, both disappointing. The public washroom in the pool area needed to be mopped, it was soaking wet and slippery. The carpet in our room was really stained, giving a bad impression to an otherwise clean room. The layout is odd, although it's probably too late to do anything about that...to get to the pool you have to walk pretty much through the restaurant. Probably the most disappointing part of the stay was the bordering-on-rude check-in staff. She didn't smile once, and informed us that we better book all our meals (for the three days we were staying) at the restaurant before we even went up to our room or we may not get in. This was disturbing news as the weather was miserable, and there is no where else to eat! The advice was unwarranted, the restaurant manager assured us he could accommodate us, and that proved to be true. The computers failed at check out and although the young lady was very nice and apologized, I felt another person should have been helping her with the long line forming as she tried to check people out manually.
My young niece and nephew liked the hotel and the park, so we will give it another shot in summer. Hopefully some of the problems will be worked out by then.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the elevators if you don't want a long hike from your room to anywhere else...

We stayed here in oct 2013. The course was still in good shape. Fun course awesome backdrops. Nice staff well maintained. The hotel is beautiful good staff. The hotel restaurant is nice with excellent food. I would recommend bring bikes that way you can explore much more than just walking. The next time we go we will bring stuff to snack on, The closest store is about twenty miles away. The are pet friendly

My girlfriends and I stayed at this resort at the end of March 2014 and it was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Part of the spa (personal services) was closed due to water pipes that had broken. With the winter we have had in Manitoba this year, I am not surprised this happened. The mineral pool spas and hot and icy cold tubs were great. The area around the pools were filled with sunshine and comfortable chaises on which to relax. The hotel room was a pleasant surprise, nicer than the one we had in Mexico this year. Outdoor activities would have been taken in had it been just a little warmer. Had a great relaxing time. Definitely a great winter mini-vacation.

Room Tip: Had a room at the very end of the hall (furthest away from everything) and it took a few minutes to...

Overall, I am recommending this hotel to everyone. It is a great escape from the city. Soo peaceful. The food was outstanding.
We loved the complementary skiing and found the mineral pools very relaxing. The hotel had a very relaxing feel to it. The staff was very professional and friendly too! No comparison to Gimli Lakeview. We have stayed at both and this hotel wins, hands down!

Beautiful Hotel.
This place was great for our family (6 years, 4 years and 9 months). The food was the best part. Always fresh and hot and such a great selection. The eating area is, let's say, open concept. The table are right beside the main walkway, but the kids didn't mind. Every meal was delicious and they were able to accommodate my child with a gluten free option every meal.
The room was bright and spacious. Clean, despite the cereal on the carpet. The view from our king suite was so relaxing. We faced east and to have the sun rise pour into the room was really nice. The desk lamp was broken as well as one of the t.v.s. The kids to watch a DVD but the selection they wanted was rented the entire three days. Bring your own DVD movie for the kids. The adult movie selection was good.
We all loved the family pool and water slide. You do have to remember to bring your bath robe or beach cover for the walk to and from your room and pool where you pass the main lobby and restaurant (in your swim suit). You are not allowed to bring the hotel pool towels to your room or the room towels to the pool.
The room was very stuffy, but we opened the window and turned on the air conditioner and it resolved itself in an hour. The sleep number bed monitor display was broken so we couldn't adjust the best the first night and the best was too hard. By laying on the bed the second night the adjusting bed number did work and adjusted to the right number we wanted= good sleep.

Reasonably priced, with good facilities. Looks a little dog-eared, though, especially considering how recently it was renovated: peeling surfaces throughout, hooks falling off the walls, and other minor irritants. Very beautiful surroundings, lots to do for a stay of a few days.

Excellent place to get away and relax, lots of fun activities for both adults and children. Very clean and wonderful staff. The kids had a blast in the indoor water park, 3 storey slide, hot tub, got a really good work out from them. Making plans to go on a summer trip...
