Due to an admin error by our tour operator we had to stay two nights at the Hotel Laki. What a result! The best recommendation I can give this hotel is that when we return to Iceland we would go out of our way to stay here again. Rooms are a good size, light and modern and we had a great view over the nearby lake and the estuary beyond. There was plenty of variety for breakfast - hot and cold options with a few Icelandic dishes thrown in too. We ate there both evenings too and ate well on both occasions. It was shame that the golf course was unplayable (snow) but that will have to wait for next time. Note for serious golfers - do not expect a championship standard links course, it's just for a bit of fun. Only criticism is that they should move the hot tub and sauna to a place where you can experience the views. Overall, loved it.

Room Tip: Ask for a 1st floor room with a view over the lake and estuary

We spent two nights in Hotel Laki and I have to say it was a great experience. They're facilities are very good.

We ate in the hotel on the first night and the meal itself was very good.

Unfortunately there were some school trips there while we were staying but the owner was sure to let us know this as soon as we arrived and suggested the best time to avoid the crowd for brekfast & dinner. They were very accommodating altogether.

The views from the rooms at the back of the hotel overlooking the lake are great.
We didn't know about the hot tub until late on the last night but the staff were kind enough to let us use the tub past the usual closin time.

There was also a lovely big sheep dog on the grounds to befriend.

The one downside is that the bar could be a bit cosier and the pool table it in absolute bits!

All in all, great!

Our family of 3 with a young toddler stayed there for a night as part of our self drive tour arranged by a tour company. We stayed in a room that looks newly renovated. The room & bathroom was very spacious as compared to other mid priced hotel we stayed in in Iceland. Dinner was a sumptuous buffet dinner with lots of variety. Salmon, roast meat, vegetables, fresh fruits & desserts. It looks delicious but i thought was a little disappointing in the taste department.

What we loved most about the place is how the management made the hotel so conducive for northern lights viewing. Lights from corridors are all blocked by an extra door. The ground floor rooms open up to a boarded walkway so one could just look out for lights from the full length window & step out onto the walkway when there is any action! The boardwalk also double up as a place for me & my son to sit while watching the lights just outside the hotel.

Facilities in the room includes safe box, hair dryer, TV, kettle. We wished that the hotel had an ala carte menu in the restaurant. We were quite full from tea when we arrived in the hotel that evening but had no choice but to take the buffet or end up hungry later in the night. Icelandair hotel a short drive away offers ala carte dinner but does not come any cheaper so one might find more value in just eating in Laki. Service was great.

Overall, we had a great stay in the hotel & would recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for ground floor units that lead to the boardwalk!

A hotel worth every penny for sure, the rooms are plenty big with excellent beds with an even better bathroom. I cannot fault this hotel. The rooms were brilliant, modern and very clean. The food was out of this world - there were breakfast and evening meal buffets which included lots of choice.Just what I wanted! Perfect!

One of the best hotels in Iceland. Lovely family spirit and perfect breakfast buffet with three types of home made bread. Great restaurant with ingrediants from the local area. The staff is really professional and cleaness at the best.
