Had a simple lunch at this restaurant with nice soup, but the thing we liked best was the helpful advice from local customers. We learned that the attraction we wanted to see would be open, due to an unexpected influx of visitors. There is also a great model of whaling operations, complete with a Basque flag. Whalers also has tourist accommodations.

Cute place. Food excellent, service with a smile, very friendly, and a great gift shop. Good location by the excellent Red Bay museums.

After spending the morning at the Red Bay National Historic site, Canada's newest UNESCO site, we decided to have lunch at the Whalers Restaurant. Good decision! We shared a very tasty seafood soup and cod dinner. The soup was very good, with plenty of fish and shellfish. The cod was cooked to perfection. As another reviewer stated, large portions and very tasty.

Whaler's Restaurant serves in addition to the usual cafe fare, the meals that are intrinsically linked to the culture in this part of Canada. The seafood is caught off the shore of Labrador and purchased from the Union plant in L'Anse au Loup. Marilyn's corn fish, fish cakes and Jigg's dinner are the best I have ever eaten, and the homemade fresh fries and jams are excellent. We stopped in Red Bay for a meal, but the food was so good and the staff so friendly, we stayed three days!
