The situation of the Hotel is good on the mainroad between Bamberg and Würzburg .. Unfortunately many of the rooms are old-fashioned furnsihed but all have private facilities and TV . Good Parking facilities and nice Beer-garden in Summer . Menu-card mainly Bavarian cuisine . Some of the wines were not available ! Good local beer however .
Non-smoking restaurant , but in the Reception-hall and corridors to the rooms it smells sometimes very smokey . Non-smoking rooms available and also good room for the disabled person . Do ask for the most recent renovated rooms !

On our way to Bavaria, we stopped at hotel Klosterbräu, only because all places near the motorway were fully booked (which appeared to be very fortunate!). Our navigation system guided us off the motorway, through peaceful forests and fields, to the hotel which is situated on the town square of the tiny, quiet village Ebrach where time seemed to have stood still. We strolled through the village and the park and discovered a charming little church in front of the hotel. A very soothing experience after a day of driving in heavy traffic. At the hotel, situated in an old convent, we were warmly welcomed and shown to our spacious room with a great view on the garden and old buildings. The room was furnished in modern German country style; the bed, in which we had a good night's sleep, stood in some sort of alcove, which made the sitting area with sofa and tv seem somehow separate from the sleeping area. During the night, there was not a sound to be heard and the only light there was (outside of course) came from the moon and stars. Dinner was tasty, regional food, big portions, good quality. Good breakfast too; my husband asked for scrambled egss with bacon and when the lady served them she added that she had "made them with love"; my husband said these were the best scrambled eggs he had ever had! And on top of this, the price we paid of our stay, food included, was extremely reasonable! On our way back to the motorway we drove some more through the countryside (Steigerwald) and stopped several times to enjoy the calm and the beautiful sights of this very quiet part of Germany. We would have gladly stayed longer in this welcoming place!

We were on our way to Dresden by road but before we set off, we discovered the Landidyll Hotel group, These are family run hotels in rural locations and every one we have stayed at over the past seven years have never failed to impress. The Klosterbrau is no exception - the family saw to our every need. It was so relaxing and comfortable, just like staying qwith friends !
