We really liked this place. The pool was just a couple of degrees below body temperature, the room was spacious, light , clean and airy. Parakeets and egrets fluttering around the grounds, a monitor lizard basking in the sun. Polite, helpful, friendly staff. The evening buffet was mostly aimed at western tastes but the sri lankan food that was on offer was lovely AND after weeks of beer, sensibly priced, good quality Chilean wine. We had been in budget accommodation before this (apart from the awful overpriced Sirigiya Village) and it was well worth the extra money. The only downside was the fact that they didn't warn us that reception would be locked at 5 am when we left for the National Park and we had to find our own back way out to the security desk and pickup point.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room as you get patio doors straight out onto the lawn and pool area

We stayed here for 1 night on a 4 day tour in order to do the Yala safari.
The hotel has a very pleasant and friendly atmosphere and has a lovely outlook at the back over the paddy fields, lovely to sit outside at breakfast. The food was a little limited but was good, the young waiters were a little bit confused by everything.
The room was ok but as others have mentioned, the bathroom vent was open wooden slats and although we didn't have a problem mosquitos and bugs could visit ! The bed had 2 mattress covers over a rather grubby foam 'mattress' ,which was a bit worrying. We would stay again but only if the bed was replaced !

We stayed in this hotel only for 1 night. But we would have stayed longer if our travel plan was different. It is clean. Nice view. Cosy. Dinner (tasty currys) and breakfast (fresh fruit) were good. No free wifi. No mosquito net. But a tablet. Airco, and fan.
I would go again.

This place was paradise, after a very traumatic previous few days of staying in hell holes. My husband and I finally said forget budget...let's splurge, and this place was great for that. Air con and mosquito coils in place. The bathroom was small and not well ventilated, but it was great to sit by the beautiful infinity pool, read, and gaze out across the marshland. So relaxing, no one hassled anyone. Nice restaurant onsite too. Staff was very helpful and willing to aid in booking things, such as safaris. Stayed for 2 or 3 nights in April 2010.

Sitting here by the infinity pool looking out to the spectacular color of a green paddy field, and rows of different green hued palm trees in the distance make me think I'm on a movie set. This kind of surreal beauty doesn't come along that much....except maybe here in Sri Lanka.
The rooms are modern, pristine, with all the comforts of home. Most rooms have the same view. We are lucky to have a terrace to enjoy that outdoor space as well.
The only issue could be in certain bathrooms where the toilet faces the shower stall and if you have long legs, this might be uncomfortable.
The staff are attentive, and clad in the beautiful traditional sarongs and Kandyan belts. Always a free smile and fairly quick service.
There is free wifi in the hotel lobby and outdoor area. The ambiance of the hotel is chic and not overstated, but just perfect. Koi fish and lotus ponds greet you at the entrance.
The food selection is good. I would rate it a 6.5 on the varied scale. I personally would prefer more traditional dishes, as opposed to sometimes lack luster western fare.
We took an early trip to Yala and our guide per-ordered breakfast in a box - two cheese sandwiches, two eggs, two sausages, two small plantains, banana loaf, toothpick and napkin. More than enough...and a great treat to eat on the beach while the driver takes a bit of a break. Its tiring business driving the Yala terrain!...and keeping an eye out for the elusive Leopard!
I do believe the past reviews can now stay in the past, as this lovely hotel is back on track.

Room Tip: Try to ask for upstairs rooms looking out over the pool. Downstairs may not feel as private. Make...

Priyankara appears to have been renovated fairly recently. The hotel looks great and if you want to see Yala - and by the way, we thought Eco park just a couple of miles north of Habarana was far better, had loads of wild elephants, and was much cheaper - then this hotel is fine. The rooms and bathrooms are comfortable. But I suspect it's all going to deteriorate fast. Brand new taps that come off in your hand. Sinks and baths that don't drain properly. A brilliant pool where the cleaning system doesn't work. Food that was perfectly edible but utterly disappointing given the abundance of riches available. Skip Yala and go to Eco!

We had to stay in Priyankara Hotel as a family. The hotel rooms and ameneties were full of insects- cockroaches, bees, mosquitoes and despite cleaning up, they kept coming into the rooms.
The hotel Manager and the Staff were extremely helpful and tried their best to help us but in vain. In fact, the hotel Manager made sure that we do not pay exorbitant amounts for the Yala Safari and helped us with reasonable Jeep rates.

However, Priyankara Hotel is no better than ta Two Star accomodation and please expect no better ameneties than that
