This was our first stay at the Lodge. A great staff and an excellent hotel. They had everything we needed, the location, the atmosphere, the restaurant.. And a lovely room. Everything had been organized. We came away knowing we would return. We had a fantastic stay .

We stayed here on our honeymoon for one night, and it was amazing! We arrived mid-morning and were greeted with a light breakfast and glass of crisp torrontes. The rooms are really cool- little houses. We scheduled a couples massage and I also had a facial- both were very nice, not amazing, but solid. We missed our first winery tour, so the hotel quickly rescheduled a whole new itinerary for us! We had lunch at a fabulous winery- amazing steak- and then went to Ruca Malen for a second tour. We had a delicious meal- and try the house bonarda for sure! Amazing. The plunge pool was too chilly to plunge in which was a bummer, so we wrapped ourselves up on a blanket and cuddled on the double lounger under the stars instead. The bath tub is definitely big enough for two, and the roof couch is comfy too! Amazing view of vineyards and the andes- we woke up in the morning to a purple dawn and the moon above the snow capped peaks! The hotel arranged for us to go on several more wine tours, and to meet a hiking guide for the next day. We WILL be back!

We stayed here for 3 days on our honeymoon and had a great experience - 3 really fun days full of wine tasting, eating and horseriding. We did the all inclusive package whereby any activities you want to do and restaurants you want to go to are arranged and paid for by Cavas. The concept works really well and is very flexible, you can arrange things at short notice. It's probably not the cheapest way of doing it but is good if you fancy being lazy like us and having everything arranged for you! The view from the terrace of our room was truly amazing........miles of vineyards with the snow-covered Andes mountains in the background. My only complaint would be that our room looked a little tired which meant it didn't quite have the wow factor that we expected for the cost. Scuffs on the walls, stains on the armchair and old looking electrical items (kettle, hairdryer, TV). Not major things but could be fixed easily so I'm not sure why they aren't as a lot of work has obviously gone into the design of the rooms so it's a shame to have little things like this letting it down a bit.

We stayed for second time at Cavas Wine Lodge Hotel for five nights in early September of this year. We had a fabulous time! Cavas are breathtakingly beautiful. The view from our suite was magnificent! The staff was very friendly and anticipated our every need.
While there are several very good restaurants in Mendoza, we chose to eat at the Hotel. The food and service were so outstanding; The Hotel owner visited our table every evening to ensure our needs were being met, and after inquiring about our plans for the following day, provided us with detailed maps every morning ensuring we would reach our destination. Breakfast looking to the “Andes” was amazing! The selection of fresh fruit, pastries, cheeses, and entrees exceeded our expectations.
I could go on for ages and I plan to visit again in 2010!

We went to Cavas for our honeymoon. The rooms themselves really are spacious and incredible. The grounds are so pretty and the service was wonderful. No matter how many times we changed our minds about what we wanted to do, even last minute, no one batted an eyelash, and our wishes were immediately accomodated. The restaurant was good. The steak was fantastic, desserts yummy, fresh salads, but the fish, oddly, was always disappointing. Wine selection did not disappoint.

However, we did notice that the main house and rooms could use a bit of maintenance. The white wash was very gray in many areas, peeling in others. And I actually did not like the bathrooms. Something about the rock walls made it smell a bit musty and made the shower very dark and not welcoming. The bathtub was very nice, though, and there was plenty of counter space next to the double sinks.

Also, the plunge pool was entirely too cold to ever plunge in. The outdoor shower was really nice, though.

Highlights: 1. Dinner on the roof of our room under the southern stars that looked so bright, you thought you could touch them. Impeccable service, a lovely roaring fire, wonderful hearts of palm sald and delicious steak with chimichurri sauce. Followed by a wonderful apple pancake dessert. The only problem is we were too full to finish the whole thing, and we so regretted it because it was so good. Also, due to an issue with hot water in our room (there was none that day), the hotel gave us a bottle of wine with our dinner that was truly spectacular. I cannot recommend enough that everyone do this.

2. A very nice breakfast every morning (or afternoon if you get up late!), again with wonderful service, outside looking out over grape vines with snow-capped Andes as the background. Wow!

3. Very nice tea service in afternoon that you can request.

4. The concierges will make any reservation you desire, will get you in places at the last moment, and will make lots of good recommendations. And then if you change your mind, they cancel without any hesitation! Actually, every aspect of the service is wonderful.

5. On our first day, we were welcomed immediately with a lovely chilled glass of Torrontes as soon as we pulled up.

6. Bikes to use around the property --and even off property if you want.

Cons:

1. Needs some maintenance
2. Musty smelling bathrooms/dark shower
3. No clock in room--we didn't realize there was an hour difference from Buenos Aires and took our sweet time our first morning therby missing our first winery tour reservation.
4. Truly stupid "welcome" play one evening. But the Tango Show/Lesson was great!

All in all, we had a wonderful time and truly spectacular honeymoon. I highly recommend the enitre Mendoza area for a special, romantic trip filled with great wine, great food, and outdoor activities for a nominal price compared to other wine regions like Napa and Burgundy.

My husband and I were given one night at Cavas as a wedding present and in just 24 hours we went from stressed out wedding planners to blissed out newly weds. We used a B&B in Mendoza as our base for exploring the region and doing wine tours so that our night at Cavas could be spent just enjoying the hotel's grounds and services. They really do put a glass of wine in your hand as soon as you arrive. Even in mid-September, which is early spring Argentina, it was hot enough that we were able to enjoy our complimentary bottle of Cavas wine in our swim suits while we lounged on the oversized deck chair beside our dipping pool and gazed up at the snow capped Andes. The vineyards were only about three feet away from the patio and we were amazed at the bird life that we were able to watch. The rooms are actually stand-alone suites that look like they've been sculpted out of sandstone on the outside, but feel like a luxurious cottage on the inside. The bathroom was clean and included an inside and an outside shower, as well a deep bath tub. We went for a bike ride around the vineyard and then had a three course dinner in front of a roaring fire on our private rooftop balcony as we watched the sun set. The broccoli soup really is as excellent as other reviewers have said, but we also enjoyed the roast goat and two very generous slices of cheesecake. The temperature drops quite dramatically at night in September so we also took advantage of the fireplace in the cosy bedroom. Breakfast the next morning was a fantastic spread of fresh fruit, pastries, meats and cheese and dulce de leche, as well as a hot food menu that we didn't even get around to trying because everything else was so good! The concierge arranged for us to have lunch at nearby Ruca Malen so armed with sun hats and an emergency cell phone (both courtesy of the lodge) we biked to the neighboring winery for a fabulous meal in a gorgeous setting. We were allowed to have a late check-out so we spent our last few hours lounging on our patio marveling at the view. I only met Cecilia once and was too shy to introduce myself and thank her for the bottle of sparkling wine that we were given for our honeymoon, but she and Martin have done a fantastic job of creating the ultimate place for a wine-loving couple to unwind. Muchas gracias!
