This time we brought friends with us and they loved it as well. We knew they would! The service is beyond comparison. They anticipate your every need! Breakfast is lush and plentiful and your coffee cup is always filled. (with great coffee by the way). i agree with all the rave reviews. I will add that you really should go up on your deck and order a bottle of champagne at sun down. The staff will light the fire, pour the cahampagne and bring a selection cheeses! CAVAS is unique and not to be missed!

We drove here over the Andes from Santiago, eight hours of up and down around hairpins dicing with death, juggernauts and crazy latin drivers, so a glass of wine and a dunk in the plunge pool on arrival was much appreciated.

Private villas with roof terrace and plunge pool set in the vineyard. Torch lit promenades through the vines after dinner, total seclusion and many like minded wine tour guests "terroirists".

A charming Argentine couple run this lovely hotel where each lunch and dinner may be taken at any of the local restaurants and wineries. We found that three wineries a morning was sufficient followed by a much needed siesta after lunch.

De Zero winery was our favourite.

Our bath was not attached to the floor resulting in a number of floods....

"Merite un detour"

Room Tip: All villas are the same and located in the vines

This was our last stop with friends on a 4 stop tour of Argentina. We rated it our favorite. The hotel is unique, the owners are young Portenos with impeccable taste. The staff cannot do enough for you. Our last night included a tango show in the drawing room and a big asado. Another night we had a cooking lesson (empanadas and chimichurri) in he vineyard. They fixed us up with a wine tour including a wine-tasting lunch at the Ruca Kalem vineyard (a must) + a trek in the foothills of the Andes up to 11,000 ft. Just spectacular. We drank too much wine. The sommelier, Fabio, is young but incredibly experienced and knowledgeable. Concierge Juan is terrific.

Room Tip: All good with rooftop terraces, plunge pools, outdoor showers, sitting room, etc.

If you can afford to stay anywhere in the Mendoza Wine Country, then don't hesitate to stay here. It was worth every cent. It's a top notch place for honeymooners, those on a great getaway, or empty nesters, whether you're a wine novice or seasoned connoisseur. The staff welcomed our arrival with a glass of wine as we stepped out of the car! They had a suggested itinerary for us in case we had nothing planned. We took several of their suggestions. Horseback riding through the vineyard was quite fun, actually walking though the rows of vines! We enjoyed tours and lunch at neighboring vineyards. An evening cooking lesson with the talented young Cavas chef was terrific. It was a pleasure to meet the couple who own the Lodge and chat about their vision for the place. Their thoughtful planning made our stay exceptional...from the restaurant to the rooftop lounging beds and fireplaces to the plunge pools and the spa...all great. We plan to be back in 2014or 2015.

Room Tip: We stayed in a middle tier casita. All of them face the Andes Mountains so all views are magnificent...

From the minute we entered the property, the viewsand serverice were fantastic. we asked for a room for 3 and the lodge handled this exceptionally. Couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable 2 days, food was extraordinary especially the sizeof the steaks.

Wine tours of Achaval Ferrer and Cobas were excellent Dominio was just so so although luch was just fine.

Kudos to the staff who greeted us on the roof top for sunrise with a fire, tea and blankets fantastice views.

We would definately go back

Room Tip: not much to do for kids or if yo don't like wine

Sometimes in life you have to go all in and just enjoy the best there is. That is what it means to spend time at Cavas. We loved every minute of our time at Cavas - meals on site, meals they arranged in the area (don't miss Francis Mallman's 1884), vineyard tours (don't miss Mendel), horseback riding, and more! You pay a premium for Cavas, but it's well with it.

We have mixed feelings about our stay at Cavas. I am glad we stayed there, but it is really overpriced and the service doesn't match the prices. Here is the good and the bad:
Good---we always prefer staying in the countryside to cities, so the setting is fabulous. All the rooms are like casitas facing the Andes--so the views are lovely and each room has an upstairs deck for better mountain viewing---just lovely. We also had an outdoor plunge pool, but we didn't use it and an outdoor shower. We had dinner there one night and the food was FABULOUS--very delicious and the dining room is also a lovely setting. The casitas are set up with a sitting room with fireplace and TV, which then leads to bedroom and then bathroom. It is very spacious. The help is very friendly and tries hard.
The Disappointing: The shower was creepy--in a small room, and it leaked so the floor was always wet--including when we arrived. The toilet was starting to rust or something at the bottom. The closet was open, but very small and only one person could be in at a time. We had several communication problems---they had emailed a suggested itinerary---but I had hired a private wine guide on my own, which I emailed them. I also emailed them that we were taking a cab to the property after a brief visit in Mendoza (which wasn't a very charming town, could have skipped that and everything closed mid day for siesta). They still sent someone to pick us up at the airport, who I never saw, and still had an itinerary for us when we checked in. I showed them the email I sent indicating we didn't want any of that---so they said ok, but when we checked out, airport pickup was on the bill. They did take it off......We did use their car service to take us to dinner at Francis Mallman, 1884, a disappointing meal and nowhere as good as the hotel, but we were charged 875 pesos for it--which is over $150! I was shocked when I saw the bill. The help tries very hard, but they are very young and not what I expected at a property charging over $600 per night. We have stayed at many expensive places (Singita, One and Only, etc) but overall, I left here feeling that it was much too expensive for what we got. I'm only glad we hired our own guide and didn't use them, based on how young and green their help was.

That said, we spent the last night in Mendoza at the Park Hyatt---which was nowhere as charming as Cavas, so I'm glad we stayed there, but I"m not sure I would stay there again.

Dear Guest,

We thank you very much for taking the time to share your opinion with the Trip Advisor community. People like you who travel extensively are very good critics! and we take the feedback in a positive way. We looked into what you said about sending a tentative programme. As Mendoza is a relatively new region, many of our guests rely on recommendations for boutique and personalized wineries. We were communicating with your travel agent and unfortunately we did not have a yes or no on the tentative programme and/or transfers so we preferred to make some arrangements in case you needed them. We apologize for the confusion, we over did it. As for the private transportation to 1884 restaurant, since you were 4 people, we booked a larger vehicle and that is why the price was higher. The price for 2 people is Ars 500 with the driver waiting for you and bringing you back home. It is a 15 mile drive to this restaurant, and we would have recommended to go there the night you stayed in downtown Mendoza as this is a shorter drive. We want people to enjoy our area and facilities as much as possible. It is a pity that you did not use the outdoor shower or the vintage tub, when we built Cavas Wine Lodge we thought of 3 different areas to enjoy a nice bath! The walk in closet cannot be made bigger unfortunately but maybe next time you can try our new villas which have amazing closet space and even more spacious bathrooms. Thank you for staying with us.
Kind regards, Martin, Cecilia and the Cavas team
