Owner description: Bodega Lagarde is one of Argentina´s oldest wineries, established in 1897. Today, the winery is a true reflection of history combined with enchanting surroundings, architecture and malbec vineyards planted in 1906. Our hospitality team will welcome you as part of our family and show you our passion and commitment to make wines of elegance and beauty that will offer immense pleasure in the short term while holding the possibility of great reward with proper aging. We offer private guided tours and wine tastings for each palate. Our Restaurant settled by the Winery´s vineyard, offers a five course tasting menu paired with Lagarde´s best wines. Open from Monday to Saturday. Booking Recommended.

“Great spot for lunch”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

Bodega Lagarde was recommended by our hotel as a great lunch spot, which it definitely was! The beef was possibly the best we had while in Mendoza and the staff were very generous in topping up our wine pairings. The courtyard and open grill was also very atmospheric and every table was taken, suggesting that this is a popular spot with visitors. My only criticism would be that (for a winery), virtually no explanation accompanied the wines that we were given to complement the dishes.

“Excellent from top to bottom”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

Went on a bike tour which was a bit frustrating with the poor map, once to Lagarde that was erased. We lucked out on the tour as our guide was delightful and easy on the eyes too lol.
She had the group paying attention and asking lots of questions, very friendly and easy going. Started out with a detailed explanation of the sparkling wine process and got to see the huge room of Oak Barrels, All French barrels
( Not many know france does not have any oak any more, they cut down all their trees many years ago all the oak wood comes from USa then shipped to France to air for 1 - 2 years prior to be made into Barrels ) Just for the record ! lol

Then to the wines, starter white was a lovely sauv blanc / muscat blend which may be the best white I have ever had !

Super fragrant to the point one would have thought the wine would be sweet, it was bone dry, a delightful combination ! Think they called it the "liar wine" because of what one thinks on the nose and what it tastes like, I would have bought a case but from Canada that was not going to work. Will try to see if they have it when we get home.
All the reds were superb, well balanced, could not have a bad word about any of it, the highlight was the Cab Franc 2011, 140 pesos, tasting fee was refunded once purchased, we bought the deluxe tasting which was not expensive, anyways the Cab Franc was beautiful fruit forward clean tasting bold red with lovely sweet vanilla oak. Much like some of the great wines of Sonoma and Napa from California.
I bought one then asked the guide what she thought, she agreed it was the best choice of the current releases.
This is a great well run winery with a long history, one of the malbecs has the DOC accreditation and is over 105 years old !
Hats off to Lagarde ! First class tour and tasting !
Adios from Canada

“A very pleasant surprise”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

We booked Lagarde as a stopgap before heading to the Luigi Bosco winery, but this winery turned out to be the highlight of the day. From the outside, like many of the wineries, Lagarde looks vaguely industrial rather than picturesque, but once inside the old walled courtyard the atmosphere completely changes. The original historic habitation of the Lagarde family has been turned into a visitor centre comprising of a courtyard restaurant and kitchen, a wine store and the offices for the vineyard, all well thought out and nicely appointed. The winery does not benefit from a view of the Andes, but the courtyard atmosphere and historic setting make up for this. The tour of the winery was relatively short (not such a bad thing after several tours). It was clear that the focus of Lagarde is quality, not quantity, with only 1mil bottles produced per annum (compare Norton which is 18mil per year). I particularly liked the focus on hand bottling production of the sparkling wine to achieve the highest quality, and I liked the fact that Lagarde is experimenting with red sparkling wines (Malbec, not available yet).

Lunch was extremely good, but not excellent with the focus on simplicity. The wine tasting with the food was of a very high standard, and we particularly liked the Cabernet Franc and the flagship 'Henry' (which was not in the standard tasting, but was available when we asked)

The staff at Lagarde were extremely friendly and helpful.

Dear Jasemann,

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our Winery. I am happy that you enjoyed our atmosphere and that you appreciated our thrive for quality and not quantity.

Also loved that you enjoyed our Cab Franc! It recently scored 90pts on Robert Parker and won a Silver Medal at the IWSC in London, so it makes very proud.

We hope to see you again soon in Mendoza.

All the best,

“Not what I was expecting”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

Based on the reviews, I really expected a fabulous lunch here. The service was excellent and the wines were really delicious. But the food was very disappointing - kind of like what I would throw together at home. It almost didn't even seem like a real restaurant. We didn't get a tour, but the winery looked nice. Just know that in this area, there isn't a view of anything. The best word I can think of to describe it is "rustic." So, if you are staying nearby, this may be a good place to come for a tour and tasting. But don't waste your time and money on a meal.

“History, Hospitality, and Magnificent Malbec”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

Bodega Lagarde beautiful vineyard boasts Argentina's oldest malbec vines and embodies what everyone perceives romantically as a traditional family winery born of love for the grape and its cultivation. Tasting their wonderful wines with owners and staff is about as close as most of us will ever get to a genuine al fresco Sunday family lunch in wine country.

We were there as part of a trade delegation from Cambria County, Pennsylvania, looking to forge joint ventures between Argentina wine producers and Pennsylvania bottlers and distributors. We visited many places, tasted many wines, but Bodega Lagarder's owners and team stand out as the finest hosts of a truly remarkable visit.

Great people, great wines, great attitude...don't miss Lagarde!
