“Too Short a Stay”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

My wife,a small tour group and Istayed here one night. Everyone agreed we would have loved to stay longer. After a drive over the Andes from Santiago, Villa Mansa was a very welcome reward. It is quiet, out of the way, offers great views of the Andean foothills and the first range, is located close to numerous wineries. Breakfast was good. Staff were helpful in assisting our group with a little wine and nibbles. Our room was very nice. Has a pool, but only one of us used it. Only niggly, one needs a car or needs to rely on a local transport as it is out of the way. We would go back if in the area.

Room Tip: Second floor offers better mountain views.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights while visiting the Mendosa region wineries and really enjoyed it.

The room was very good. Generously spacious with a sitting area and with nice modern decor and amenities. Bathroom was nice and the bed was very good. The door and key card had some kind of mechanical or electrical issue and took many tries to get it open. On every occasion it opened eventually and we started getting better at the opening technique. We forgot to mention the door issue to the front desk checking out (apologies).

The hotel common areas are also very good. They've gone with a modern, clean decor, but with rustic bits and pieces appropriate to the region: saddles and such. All the areas are airy, spacious and well lit with natural light. Really liked the feel of the place. The central pool area is also very appealing, where we'd spend at least an hour after exploring. The pool was quite chilly but refreshing for short dips. There are two resident Labradors, that I thought were very pleasant and fit right in with the hotel, though they do beg at the outside tables, which might bother some guests.

Buffet Breakfast was very good with all the usuals (cereal, toast, fruit salad, yoghurt) and eggs to order in the very pleasant dining area.

One of the drawbacks for villa mansa is that while the overall location is good, it's somewhat hidden away down a dirt road and surrounded on two sides by fairly barren lots. It's not a huge issue, but certainly not as pleasant on the eye as being surrounded by olive groves or vineyards.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us! Sorry about the door lock, we'll make sure to have a look to it so it doesnt happen again.

Our dogs are most of the time the stars of our hotel, however if for any reason they bother a guest, they are very well trained to receive orders, so our staff can point them to another place. Hope you enjoyed their presence!

Villa Mansa is a lovely small country hotel. It’s located in Luyan de Cuyo, about 30 minutes out of Mendoza. The hotel is very quiet with lovely large rooms and very nice views. The women who run it go out of their way to help you. It also has a very nice restaurant on site and a lovely swimming pool. We were shown two rooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. We chose the one upstairs with a lovely balcony and a nice view. We stayed in room 11. I think the nicest upstairs rooms are 10, 11 and 12. The only problem with the upstairs rooms is the stairs, which are steep, curving and have no handrail. It’s definitely a struggle with luggage although we had help when we arrived and left. All of the staff were wonderful. Some spoke English better than others but they all would do anything they could for you. They also helped us in making appointments at wineries, which is a must. This got a little confusing. We had a number of wineries that had been recommended to us. Some were closed that week, some could not take us at the time we wanted to go. We also did not understand the distances involved in driving and how badly the roads were signposted. We spent a great deal of time getting lost! In retrospect we should have left the wine tasting tour schedule up to the hotel asking them to book one winery for tasting only, one for a lunch tasting and one for a tour and tasting. Three wineries in one day is plenty. The only drawback to the hotel is that it not located near a nice village and there are no good restaurants nearby (except for the wineries that only serve lunch). The driving there is very difficult with bad roads and bad drivers which we did not want to tackle at night. Because they have a restaurant on site, this is not a problem. We had some excellent meals there. Their chef, a woman, is very good. I would recommend Villa Mansa as a nice place to stay for a wine tasting trip.

Room Tip: Room 10 , 11 or 12 upstairs have the best views and most privacy.

Thanks for choosing Villa Mansa for your wine trip! Hope you have enjoyed touring the local wineries!

There is a nice restaurant nearby the hotel that serves dinner (Brindillas) besides the Wineries' Restaurants and our own!

Hope to see you back soon!

My boyfriend and I rented a car and went to the villa tame. We were blown away by the scenery and the hotel. All the service was perfect, the room was wonderful, with a view of vineyards and mountains. The breakfast was very good, complete. The entire hotel is structured to welcome its guests and its employees give excellent tips for trips and restaurants to enjoy. Recommend!

Room Tip: Room space, silence, good decor, good looking and very comfortable.

My friend and I spent countless hours researching hotels in the Mendoza wine region and eventually settled on Villa Mansa. We couldn't have picked a more perfect little oasis! We selected Villa Mansa because it offered a tranquil place in the wine region to begin our two-week South America trip this past February. Even before we set foot in Argentina, we felt welcomed! The hotel staff was absolutely wonderful, especially Barbara! She arranged a taxi for us that was waiting at the Mendoza airport when we arrived. Upon arrival to the hotel, we were greeted by two hilarious dogs (chubby and so cute!) that showed up randomly throughout our stay - especially when we arrived home late at night :) We were given a very spacious room off the pool (all rooms face the pool, no view from windows however) that could have easily accommodated more than just the two of us. We had a delicious steak lunch (we still talk about this as our favorite steak in all of Argentina!) at the hotel restaurant and lounged at the pool at that afternoon, with beers brought to us poolside! This was more than we asked for considering the hotel is small with only a couple of staff members. However, they always went above and beyond. They booked us a wonderful (and VERY affordable) masseuse who brought her table right into our hotel room! Barbara and Eugenia were also more than happy to provide excellent dining suggestions, book cabs to downtown Mendoza, arrange for bikes, and translate should we ever have a language barrier. The rooms were clean, the food delicious, and the pool was a comfortable temperature. When we arrived 15 minutes after the very generous breakfast window timeframe, they kept it open in anticipation of our arrival - and we were very grateful for that! They also knew that Americans typically enjoy eggs at breakfast and offered those to us. We could not get over how affordable everything was when our final bill arrived, including all excursions and add-ons! The only thing we would say to someone concerned about location is that this hotel is located quite far from the airport (AR$180) and downtown Mendoza. There are excellent dining options close to Villas Mansa if you don't want to experience the nightlife, but we felt we needed to see it after such relaxing daytime hours. We had no troubles going to downtown Mendoza each night (about AR$120 each way), however, it was a somewhat pricey. That said, the peaceful location near the mountains and wineries made it worthwhile during the day. We were able to take a walk in the area (no paved sidewalks), as well as run and bike on the roads next wineries and the mountains. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for something peaceful, accommodating, safe, clean and welcoming. You won't find better staff anywhere in Lujan de Cuyo!

My husband and I spent three nights at Hotel Villa Mansa, in Lujan de Cuyo, which is only approximately 30 minutes from Mendoza. We rented a car with Budget at the Mendoza airport & drove down to Villa Mansa. It was great to have the car to drive around during our stay in Mendoza. We arrived at Villa Mansa in the late evening and were greeted by their amazing staff- whom offered us a glass of wine on the house- what an amazing way to start our vacation.

We had a WONDERFUL experience in the wine country & at Villa Mansa!

First and foremost the hotel staff (Barbara, Eugenia & team) (all of whom speak perfect English) could not be kinder -they go out of their way to ensure you have a wonderful & amazing stay. They always had wonderful recommendations and assisted us with any request we had – from booking our wine tastings, lunches at the bodegas (wineries) to dinner recommendations & restaurants. Breakfast was served very morning with a smile–outstanding selections of fruit, eggs, pastries, meat & cheese plate and tea, coffee, as well as orange juice. The room we stayed in was beautiful, large and had a flat screen TV as well as large bathroom. All the amenities were 1st-rate, the shower, the air conditioning was excellent, and our king size bed was heavenly. To top it off we had an balcony with an outstanding view of the vineyards & mountains every morning! The hotel's location & spectacular views allows you to really unwind, enjoy and relax. We are certainly making sure to return to Villa Mansa on our next visit & are making sure to spread the word about this wonderful hidden gem we found!!!

Room Tip: Room with a Balcony provides outstanding views of the winery & mountains!

We were visiting Mendoza for few days, just before Christmas. We were looking for a place where to relax, and stay away from the city heat and the Christmas rush. We found in Villa Mansa the perfect hideaway!! Located in Luján de Cuyo, one of the main wine regions of Mendoza, it allowed us to visit the many near-by vineyards and wineries. We could even enjoy a great selection of local Malbecs at Villa Mansa´s own degustation room.

The swimming pool enjoyed sunshine all day around and the poolside chairs were ideal for a well deserved “siesta” (nap) after visiting the area.

Our room was ample, decorated with great taste in the typical Argentinean country style that we liked so much and had a lovely view of the Andes´s snowy peaks, even in summer.

Staff was always attentive and willing to make everything as satisfying and complication-free as possible, from organising winery visits for us, to getting a car-rental or a taxi, etc.

The restaurant surprised us with modernised traditional dishes that were impossible to resist.

The owner, Viviana, personally checked that everything was to the highest standards and made us feel at home.

Overall, a wonderful place, highly recommended.
