Villa Mansa Wine Hotel & Spa
Ranked #2 of 4 Hotels in Lujan de Cuyo
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed November 11, 2012

My wife and I decided to honeymoon in Argentina. Part of our trip included 4 days in Mendoza, of which we stayed at Villa Mansa. We will stay here again in a heartbeat whenever we come back to Mendoza.

Pros:
- Owner and staff make this a home away from home, VERY accommodating, VERY helpful, VERY kind. All of the staff care and are very gracious; this alone is why you should stay here, you will feel very looked after. Vivienne, Barbara, et al were the best!
- Great location if you want to tour the wineries in the area
- Quiet and peaceful
- Nice sized room with very comfortable king sized bed, nice large bathroom

Cons:
- Since it is remote you will want a car if you want to have independence. Not to say that cabbing it can't be done (which we originally planned to do) but it became apparent that it wasn't as practical.

An example of the hospitality: since we got a lot of sun on our first day at Villa Mansa and the next day was going to be 38C we wanted to do something out of the sun and with the edge taken off the temperature. We opted to check out the Minas de Paramillos (great 'raw' experience, highly recommended if you want an alternative activity). It is a 1.5 hour drive into the mountains and although they offered a transfer we wanted a car, and we didn't have one since we didn't plan on renting one. We took our plans to Vivienne at 7:30pm and she was off making calls to help confirm times for the mines and organized a car for us to be dropped off in a couple of hours from a local rental company. She took ownership of our plans as if they were her own and did everything she could to make them happen. To stay at a place like this where the ownership and staff care about your experience to the degree they do isn't something you find easily.

Regarding the rating of the Spa/Fitness facilities, we didn't use anything except for the pool so we can't speak to the quality of anything else they may have. This is why we rated them average.

We stayed for 3 nights during the 3rd week of October 2012. Viviana, Eugenia and Barbara could not have been nicer. While it is helpful if you have the ability to communicate in Spanish, it is not absolutely neccessary. They assisted with getting us wherever we wanted to go via taxi for a reasonable rate, suggested great wineries and a fantastic restaurant called Dantesco where we had dinner. The property still looked and felt new, it was very quiet (the noisest thing being the crazy birds in the vicinity), the room was very clean and comfortable with a cushy bed, partially heated floor and a nicely tiled bathroom and the area is just beautiful.Unlike others have indicated, breakfast was included in our rate. This place is not in the center of all the action, but if you desire serenity, comfort, solitude and great service, this is the place for you. We just cannot say enough good things about Villa Mansa.

We arrived late from Santiago on a round trip in Southern Argentina and Chile. Our GPS did not have the correct street name, but the people at Villa Mansa went out of their way in order to help us finding the place, having the dinner ready, and doing whatever needed to make us comfortable. This is a great place with great people! Whenever we come back to Mendoze, this is the place for us to stay.

Had a two night stay here while en route from a ski trip in Portillo and watching a rugby game in Mendoza.

Service is outstanding. Staff are very friendly. Location is s bit off the beaten track from Mendoza city centre but what you sacrifice in locality you gain in a home away from home.

Couches in front of the fire place, a really spacious room and comfortable bed are the perfect end to a day in the wine lands.

Highly recommended if your looking to explore Mendoza region and want to avoid the typical city hotels that can be a hit and miss. This hotel is a must.

My husband and I had an incredible time at Villa Mansa in April. We left saying that we'll be sure to go back one day!

The location was perfect for us. Being from the city, we wanted to be in a peaceful, tranquil setting that was still a central location to the wineries and other day trips. We found just that at Villa Mansa. It is close to a 30 min ride from the airport. A 10-15 minute taxi ride to Chacras de Coria and within minutes to several wineries. The accommodations were great. The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable! We stayed in room 1 and had a wonderful view out a side window of the Andes. The sunrise hitting the mountains was breathtaking and can be appreciated out of many spots around the hotel. The restaurant and staff at the hotel were fantastic. We arrived after lunch hours, but we were offered lunch even though it was late. After a long flight into Argentina, the empanadas were to die for! We also had dinner there twice during our stay which we often hesitate to do b/c we love to go out and explore, but it was so good that we couldn't pass it up!

Viviana and her wonderful staff helped make our trip smooth and carefree. They helped us with transport to/from the airport, gave us the best recommendations for restaurants, called for taxis to pick us up at the front door and made sure they knew exactly where to take us and that we had a card for the hotel w/the address so that we'd be sure to get back easily. When we arrived back at the hotel there was always someone there, often at the entrance way, to greet us and help with the taxi if we needed it. Everyone was so friendly!

The staff at Villa Mansa is great with email in case you want to get planning before you go. This was great for us b/c we are planners and don't want to miss anything! If this isn't for you, then be assured that the staff is always ready to help.

Some of our highlighted day activities were our tours with Trout and Wine (recommended by Villa Mansa) and the restaurants that Villa Mansa recommended. Charlie and the tour guides from Trout and Wine ran the most organized and fun tours that we've ever been on. They brought us to top wineries with very insightful tours all while narrating about the area/history and sharing laughs and snacks on the drive to each stop. We met amazing people from all over the world on these tours! We are major foodies and so Viviana's recommendation to go to Nadia O.F.'s restaurant in Chacras de Coria was the best idea EVER! You can also walk to Kaiken Winery from the hotel. It is about a 15-20 minute easy walk and you get to see some of the area while doing it. It felt like a very safe area. The hotel can help you make a reservation for a tour before you go.

One suggestion would be more chairs or lounge seats out the back of the room on the patio.
If you're thinking about staying at Villa Mansa, don't think twice. Enjoy!

We had a business conference at this hotel. It was very well caterd - must admit the food was always good. Coffee a bit poor but they were attentive and friendly. Rooms are big and well appointed. If anything I think they were overwhelmed by the size of our group 45 people - not all staying there but using the facilities, so I guess the ability to keep things tidy (especially bathrooms) was a trial.

We stayed at the villa mansa for 3 nights in april. The villa mansa is slightly out of town, but is peaceful and tranquil. The rooms are large and well furnished. The staff are excellent... Incredibly helpful and willing to go the extra mile. For example we had a problem with our flight and the team helped us rebook our flight by contacting the airline for us.
The outdoor spaces are fairly basic, but comfortable. There is a table football table and a (slightly worn out) table tennis table. I couldn't find the spa, but at the same time I didn't enquire about it.

The view of the Andes is lovely from the restaurant and main reception.
The rooms and hotel is immaculately clean.

It's easy to get to other places... Taxis are cheap to get about, although we ate at the hotel most evenings where the food is good.

The two Labradors are delightful, and made the place feel very homely.

I would recommend villa mansa, although I think as time goes on it will improve as it settles in as it is still fairly new.
