“Ideal for San Fermin away from chaos”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

About 10 min cab ride from the city center, Zizur Mayor Hotel is ideal for being away from the hustle and bustle during the San Fermin festivities which was perfect for us since we didn't want to listen to (or smell) the 24 hour party.
The hotel was clean, modern and comfortable. The staff was pleasant and helpful for all our questions and needs. I would choose a hotel closer to city center any other time of the year other than during San Fermìn week to be closer to the city center and sites.

I stayed here with friends while taking in the festival of San Fermin. As far as hotels go it's a clean place with a modern look/feel. The rooms are small - it's Europe, deal with it. It's a bit of a hike to the city center where all the activity was going on but there's a bus that stops across the highway from it that gets you pretty close.

Be clear about breakfast and how it's billed. We thought it was included in our rate only to receive an invoice for the additional cost when we checked out. Beds were small but that too is par for the course in that part of the world. I'd recommend it but just take the above into consideration.

This isn't a great choice. Staff were nice but the way the hotel is set up there are too many rules. Can we order from the to service menu in the lounge? No. Why not? Just daft. Food and drink are reasonably priced. I paid £490 for 2 rooms for two nights and even st San Fermin it was too much.

Bus to town just nearby just €1.5. Bargain.

After three days in smaller hotels in St Jean Pied de Port, Roncesvalles and Zubirir, we were looking forward to staying at a "quality" hotel.

How disappointing.

Small room, small uncomfortable bed, no room service, and a restaurant that only opened after we went to sleep.

There were no open restaurants in the area.

We purchased a bottle of wine and will subsist on that.

We look forward to staying at a small hotel tomorrow.

If travelling to Pamplona, stay somewhere else.

This hotel is somewhat unique among Pamplona offerings because it is just outside the city limits with reasonable public transportation access. It has no charm and boasts that sterile look of a modern viable hotel. Yet, it is clean and very functional as well as comfortable. The rooms’ views are open and half over a small public park. The heating/AC is unusually quite and the bathrooms adequate. The ample rooms’ noise insulation is good. The wi-fi is very good and free only in the hotel lounge. The house computer, also at the lobby is also free and an antique, extremely slow. The employees say the AC chain was acquired by Marriott just two years ago. That is just after we visited it. The acquisition has not been good for the services of the hotel. Gone are the free refreshments in the minibar and the coffee in the lobby. As a matter of fact getting it is now somewhat of a mini expedition to use a self service machine with the coffee purchased at the reception. Certainly not most Marriott standards we have experienced. The breakfast price is high considering the limited offering in their so-called buffet. Since there are no bars or coffee shops nearby (a Spanish oddity) getting food in the morning serves a captive audience. On the other hand, the room prices are very good. If you bother to buy some croissants and orange juice elsewhere the night before and purchase the coffee pack the night before too you can do well at 1/3 the price the hotel breakfast. Overall, a few quirks but we would visit it again in our next trip to Pamplona.

Room Tip: ask for a room with the view to the park. You will avoid the sights and noise of the hotel parking...

We were walking the Camino and booked this hotel as a respite from noisy hotels one night. The room we had was fab - two very comfortable twin beds with nice linen and pillows, a mini bar, fabulous bathroom with bidet and lovely toiletries. The window in our room opened which was great for getting some fresh air. The hotel had a breakfast buffet which we did not attend but I did overhear people downstairs complaining to the reception about some items running out. There is a computer with Internet access also available downstairs but it needs replacing! It took forever to try to boot up and I never could get it the Internet working it was so s-l-o-w. The staff were very kind and let me use another computer for work emails so I was lucky. There is a spotless exercise room downstairs with Turkish bath. Overall, the staff and facilities were excellent but it was a bit of a distance from where we were walking the Camino so we took taxis to/fro for approximately €10.

Located on the outskirts of the city, this hotel offered a good rate, free parking (some AC hotels charge for parking) and modern, comfortable rooms. Our room was clean, professionally prepared and the beds were quite comfortable (not always a given with some hotels we experienced). Their breakfast buffet was included and offered the customary European cold cuts, cheese slices, rolls, coffee and selection of juices. We stayed at two other AC hotels and this one was the best of the three, due primarily to the exceptional front desk service by Roberto, who went out of his way to point out the best things to see in Pamplona and loaded us up with tourism booklets and good maps of the city.
