“Stunning views from the cottage, relaxing location”
Reviewed February 23, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

The cottage has stunning views over fields, hills and the loch.
The cottage has most things needed to make for a pleasant stay.
The cottage took a few days to warm up as we stayed for a week in Feb. We were charged more for oil than we thought and were estimated! £25.
We used the log burner every evening and we were supplied with the logs and we didn't need any more.
Spacious bedrooms, lounge and dining room.
The bathroom has a sloping ceiling so a little difficult to shower but the stunning views from the window makes up for this!
The road is a little bumpy to the cottage but again the views more than make up for this!
Had a great week and visited lots - as it is in easy reach of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Loch Lomond.

Thanks so much for your review and apologies regarding the oil charge. It is always hard to give a guestimate regarding usage as it depends on so many factors! I'm glad though that you had a nice time and hopefully we will see you again soon.

“Stunning and more”

There is something quite wonderful about this place. As you turn down the single track road towards the cotttage, you drive through a pine wood, down to the Loch then across it and up to the cottage. The views are just amazing and you have a real sense that this is something special. The cottage its self was very very comfortable and well equipped. As an amateur chef, I am often frustrated at the lack of eqipment in some holiday kitchens. there was everything needed, good pots and pans, tools and utensils, as well as some basics like tea towels, washing up liquid etc. A couple of extra non stick trays for the oven would have been useful but was not a problem. Very comfortable beds, living room also comfortable with DVD and a Video. Did re tune free view a few times as signal was intermittent, but this wasnt a problem. Loved the log burner, proper toasty and warm. Ideal place for getting away from it all, yet only a 20 mins train journey traveling from West Calder to Edinburgh ( limted parking at West Calder station) not far from shops and the hub bub of Livingston. Some great places to explore in this area, Rosslyn Chapel, Jedburgh, Dunbar, and boat trips on the Firth of Forth, and Edinburgh Zoo ( Pandas here). If you visit the Zoo, be warned, it is very steep, as the paths and enclosures wind their way up a steep hill side, difficult for buggies and prams, those with restricted mobility and in wheelchairs, however, well worth it for the view at the top. Jedburgh well worth the hour drive, Jail also up a steep steep hill. Back at the cottage, all is quiet, the sheep gently Baaaaaa ing away. We had the addedd bonus of some lovely organic veg, milk and free range eggs. The loch itself is small and a walk too and around it is a must. Best coffee and rocky road ever in Dunbar at Graze Chocolate and Coffee shop.
Are there any down sides? well, if I was to be totally honest and bodering on picky, then yes! The Bathroom, in the eves of the cottage with its sloping roof, was a problem. The only place we could stand totally upright was a 2ft space under the velux window. The bath is difficult to access due to the sloping roof, and after us both bumping our heads, it was avoided at all cost. The hand held shower, whilst attractive, wasnt a viable alternative solution as you have to actually get in the bath to use it. It seems a nit picky sort of thing but never the less, a downside, moreso for taller people. There were alsp previous comments about the track to the cottage. The first half is fine, the second is bumpy and rough but in fairness, as long as you drive with care, it wasnt a problem.
If getting away from it all is what you need, completely de stressing appeals to you and esacping in the peace and quiet of the area, then this is the place to do it. We left with heavy hearts, and I would return here without hesitation. Just one thing, we heard the distinct sound of bagpipes on the last night, marvelous, the Spirit of Scotland truly walks the shores of Cobinshaw!!!

“Beautiful & Peaceful weekend get-away location”
Reviewed January 15, 2014 for a stay in January 2014

Fantastic cottage, easy to find, stunning location, perfectly equipped (every kitchen utensil you can think of + more!) - We booked for a weekend away after the busy Christmas period, and couldn't have gotten more relaxed. The views from the windows both up and down were beautiful. Was really easy to get to from Glasgow-the directions given were really detailed (i'm not the most geographically minded and we made it just fine). Perfect weekend break.

“A Lovely Little Gem..”
Reviewed December 29, 2013 for a stay in December 2013

We decided to book a christmas family holiday online and come across this little gem. We stayed 21/12 - 28/12
The cottage was really warm and cosy from the moment we walked through the door and the beautifully decorated christmas tree just made it even more perfect. (A big thank you to Lynda)
I can't fault anything.
