The Hotel is an elegant Country House, nicely situated with excellent views over Esthwaite Water. The room we stayed in was rather small but the quality of the food more than made up for this. Dinner at £33 may have put some people off as a few were B&B only but they missed a treat. In short, real food and a decent wine list along with very friendly service.

This is a hotel I can't help returning to. My last stay was two years ago and standards are still as high; the welcome, food and general 'ambiance' are wonderful. I'm returning inorder to treat some good friends in September 2009.

This is the third time I have been back to this hotel and I return whenever I get the chance. It's on the quiet side of Windermere within walking distant of Hill Top (Beatrix Potter's home) so you can go out for a constitutional to either work up an appetite or work off the excellent and irresistable food - all cooked by Richard one of the owners.

I see one of the reviews says the meals are four course but I counted five as you can have dessert and cheese. The meal is a set price of £32. It is also enhanced by the wonderful views from the dining room which overlooks the lake and is overlooked by the mountains. The wild life spotting is fun too.

In the morning breakfast is hearty with whisky and cream to go on your porridge or a wonderful dried fruit compote with greek yoghurt and almonds. This is in additiuon to the normal cooked offerings.

I suspect this would be a very good base for a walking holiday though I have not used it as such myself but their newsletter always includes a suggested walk that the owners have tried themselves.

I have used the hotel for both business and pleasure and it's a good place to go on your own if you need or want to. My internet connection was good too and it can be iffy in the Lakes.

We went for a wekend break to Ees Wyke and were not disappointed. The hotel is in a lovely setting and the owners are very welcoming. The rooms are a little dated, but don't let that put you off. They are very clean and have all the facilities that you will need.

The food (cooked by Richard) is amazing!!!

We would definitely go back!
