This year was our third visit of this hotel, situated in the most amazing valley surrounded by fir-trees.

THE HOTEL itself is excellent, a true surprise for us at the first visit. As a family with two small children, we had a junior suit in the first year, where they put us an extra bed (the service was fast and very kind) and a duplex suite this year. The Duplex suite had a living room with a couch downstairs and two bedrooms with double beds upstairs, separated by a door. The back bedroom has a small balcony, right under the woods, which was amazing in the morning. The living room also has a balcony, facing the main entrance and the village.

The room was extremely clean, excellent service, the bathroom small but clean and perfectly functional. Any request we had, it was solved promptly and kindly. Really, no reproach. The hallways and elevator were also very clean, I saw the cleaning ladies vacuuming the carpets, which I didn’t see in other more „fancy” parts of Europe.

THE RESTAURANT has a large terrace, with an impressive view on the mountains (the massive Bucegi) and the woods. Food is great, a little expensive, but very fresh and nicely served. In the first day, we had a complaint, as the kids were hungry and nobody came to attend our table, whereas other tables were attended by more waiters. I complained with the chief of the restaurant and he apologized. Then, by the end of our meal (as we were with friends, we were 9 at a table and the service went on really quick, they came all the time to see if everything was allright or to let us know if and when a meal would be a little late...) the chief came and asked me what do I think and I said it was fine, not to worry about it. However, the next day, the Resort Manager came and apologised personally, we were given cake as a surprise after lunch and a plate of cookies waited in the room with a letter from her part. I was moved by this care, the incident was a trifle for me, I wouldn’t have gone to complain to the manager, apparently the chief of the restaurant reported to her, and this proved that they really care for the customer. The resort Manager, Mrs. Boanta, is a wonderful lady, with a good word for everyone in the hotel, she is inspecting the place all the time, talking to the customers, explaining them what to to and where to go, telling jokes to the kids and trying to solve any small problem you might have. And so is the staff as well.
Breakfast (included in the room rate) is very good and fresh, with a variety of hot and cold dishes. The coffee was not very strong, but all in all everything you need, even for the kids.

THE SURROUNDINGS
Moeciu de Sus is a wonderful village, with small hay houses (odai) scattered on the green hills, with woods of fir trees and a mountain river (Valea Bangaleasa), perfect for resting or for hiking or for small walks with the kids. A few kilometers down river you can find Cheile Gradistei, a gorge through the mountains. The place is filled with small hotels and pensions (Mistral is the largest hotel here).

THINGS TO DO

You can either stay in the resort (there is also an outdoor playground, with many toys, but no indoor playground, this is a small minus) or go for walks around, in the woods or in the village. If you take the car, you can go to visit Vlahia Inn, where there is always something going on (a few kilometers back in the village; when we were there, they had a music festival and contest, with concerts and a small fair) or you can go farther to visit Bran Castle and fair or even Rasnov citadel or the beautiful city of Brasov.

All in all, a perfect weekend and an amazing place. All I could think about when leaving was finding a time to come back as soon as possible! Thank you, Mistral, thank you Mrs. Boanta!

This was a great hotel: excellent bed, excellent bathroom, a wide range of television to fall asleep to, and a fantastic view from the window when you get up in the morning (as In_bagaje describes above). The staff has a real desire to please. This is the place to stay for the mountains and nature trails and also for seeing the town of Bran and its castle. The restaurant is the best around, much better than the over-advertized Vila Bran. You need a car, and there is plenty of parking at the hotel, for there are lots of wonderful day trips in every direction.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a view of the tree-covered mountain. They do have a fitness center, but I didn...

This was our first trip in the mountains with our 7 month-old baby boy. I have to say that the surroundings will make you feel like you’re in Austria. The fir trees are several feet away from the Mistral Resort and in the morning we could feel their strong smell. The hotel is located in an area up in the mountains and far away from the noisy cities. The personnel is very kind and the manager, mrs. Cornelia Boanta, is always there for you. The room is great and the view impecable. It is definitely a 3 star-plus resort.

I loved this hotel! Not only it was beautiful and had all you could need, it felt like home away from home. The staff there goes out ot their way to make every of your wishes come true. Just been there 2weeks ago for my sister´s wedding and stayed over the weekend of 5-7th of July. They were the real organizers of the wedding and did an excellent job with a great attention to detail. A wedding that nobody will forget anytime soon and people came from all over the world for it. I am a traveller myself and I was highly impressed with this hotel and the entire experience over there. Hotel manager Cornelia is the best you can get in this world, she´s not only there to run the hotel but also to make your stay wonderful and be your amazing organizer and advisor for your entire trip there. My family has a vacation house in the nearby village and I have to say that even though I go there often, I have never seen such a good service in the area! Plus the hotel is newly renovated and elegant in every way, which again you don´t see a lot in that area. Beautiful mountain views, modern services and facilities. Order their house food specialties such as ciorba and many others, you will not be disappointed. The massage they offer in the hotel is also very good. Available for conferences, weddings and events of all kinds, this hotel has it all. And I am not the type that gets enthusiastic about everything, I am in fact hard to please. But this hotel surprised me in a really good way and I did not find them a fault. Amazing, I am looking forward to go there again as soon as posible. Give it a try, you won´t find better anywhere else, they are the best. That impecable service in great detail that you will only find home where people care about your wishes and needs and will do anything possible to make them come true. Thank you so much to Cornelia and all the team at Mistral!

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors facing the mountain peak are the best, with two balconies and a view you won...

The hotel has 3 stars, no more or less. It is the last in the locality and this is an advantage - beyond it, start the Bucegi Natural Park. The food was acceptable. Wi Fi free of charge. Has also car parking. The conclusion - It was an OK and relaxing weekend at the mountain.

We got there by chance, after our booking with a nearby villa had not been processed! So we had no booking at Mistral. Been impressed by the availability and politeness of their personnel.

The hotel is located just near the woods in a dream landscape so making trips in there is very easy.

Everything is very clean and the food was also ok.

Free wireless internet.

Room Tip: The rooms on the forest side are more silent than the ones on the entrance side of the hotel.
