An excellent venue with all the facilities you'll need as a traveller and walker. The friendliest of staff, particularly the manager, a huge food choice and 4 local beers - make sure you book for dinner. In a cozy second floor room we slept soundly and awoke to views of the mountains. There's no lift so if you have heavy cases book for the ground floor. We made an early breakfast and there was ample of choice and no shortages. The local garage is just across the road for sandwiches, fuel and insect repellent - you're going to need it!

Room Tip: No lifts so if you struggle with steps or have heavy bags book on the ground floor

Very friendly staff, cosy rooms, really good food in the restaurant at dinner and a very generous and tasty breakfast made this stay a very pleasant one. The lodge is very clean and tidy and efficiently run. Close to local amenities and attractions and the scenery at the nearby lake is outstanding. Will definitely return for another visit.

excellent location for hiking in Nelson Lakes National Park, no need to drive anywhere if you do not want to. Mount Robert circular hike (5 hours of which first 1.5 hours are going up) is amazing, had wonderful weather and stunning views over the lake. Room nice, breakfast not included but should mention cost of that somewhere. Evening meals nice, recommend to make a reservation.

Room Tip: check website - upstairs rooms probably slightly better for views.

We had a lovely time at the Alpine Lodge. The staff were all very nice and accommodating. We didn't book because it was the off peak (mid Feb) but the manager allowed us to look at several rooms so the we could choose the type of room we wanted. Dinner was also fantastic. I would recommend the lamb shank. The place is not super modern but it was very comfortable and well maintained. The manager was very knowledgable and told us places we might enjoy for hiking and trail running. We would visit again if we are in the area.

We stayed here in March for nights as a base for tramping. The alpine village is very good and they make you welcome. At this time of year the cafe is closed so you only have the main restaurant to choose from or the gas station across the road. Breakfast is a definite no value affair. We went down at 9 am and there was not much left. Take your own but take your own bowl, spoon, etc as the rooms are not set up for self catering.
Trampers should be advised that you can buy sandwiches from the gas station. The lake rotoriti water taxi only operates on the weekend at this time of year.

The location is amazing, the hotel was quiet and clean but I felt like every time I asked a question or needed something I was bothering someone. Our first impression was poor as we waited at the front desk for nearly 15 minutes just to check in. When the receptionist did appear there wasn't so much as a sorry...ok, people get busy, but then we were told that we needed to eat within a 30 min time slot, as we didn't have reservations and they were busy with groups, ok, so how about a soak in the spa? Nope...broken. Expensive internet...kept timeing out on me, and even after I disconnected after working for an hour unsuccessfully, it stated I had been on for 4 hours. This was the only bright spot, the next morning I explained to the clerk what had happened he immediately gave me a new code and apologized. Next time I would drive on to a better value.

Room Tip: No lake view, but hotel has good proximity for a short walk to the lake. Rooms seemed to be laid ou...
