“Beautiful sights”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

It is a haed climb as the guide is walking and talking but if you are a photographer, go to the top. Push yourself. Take as many pictures as possible. Feel the calmness of the village below. You feel like you have stepped back in time

“A Photographer's Dream!”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

Maria at our hotel had recommended we go here and when we arrived at the parking lot, we were doubtful it was something worth while. But then, we started the climb through the winding network of alleys and we ended up spending at least two hours shooting away with our cameras. It was so satisfying and you get a real feel for living in another simpler very colorful place.

“Nice discovery”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

Pyrgos was on my to do list in Santorini and I am glad we had a little walk through it.
It doesn't take long to see everything there is to see in Pyrgos but that doesn't mean it isn't interesting. We spent about 1 hour in the village, walking around and exploring the small streets. It was really nice to see how people are living on the island and get a less touristy feel of Santorini. If you like cats, there are plenty to stroke there too :)

“Step back in time”
Reviewed October 19, 2013 via mobile

A wonderful place to spend a few hours. We took the local bus here (one every hour or so). We were dropped off in a fairly uninspiring spot at the bottom of pyrgos. However within a few minutes as we ascended the gentle hill we were transported into another world. Cute, cobbled winding streets. Eerily silent, the only company the occasional cat or chicken. Beautiful, quaint rustic houses and churches in various states of disrepair line the streets. At the top of the hill you are rewarded with wonderful views atop the castle ruins. There's a couple of cafes at the top where you can enjoy a drink and snack whilst enjoying the views. A great couple of hours stepping back in time!

“Quaint village”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

It is an opportunity to visit a typical Greek village and the ruins of a castle without huge crowds of tourists and retail shops. Well worth the effort.
