We arrived at Zannos on our scheduled date and was told by the manager that we were being "upgraded" to a Canava Suite. I was suspicious but accepted. After two days, our electricity went out, although the rest of the hotel had power, and were told they weren't sure it was coming back on and we needed to move hotels.

I believe that both the "upgrade" and "electricity issues" were because they overbooked the Junior Suites. I believe this because as we were checking out and paying for the mineral water (yes, they charged us!), there was a couple waiting for a room to be ready. Since we got a very good price for our 8 night stay, I believe they had someone paying more so we were moved.

I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone and if you've booked and they try to upgrade you, say no. I wish I had.

Reading the previous reviews in the trip advisor we have decided to book a room in this hotel, with a special rate. The normal rate is over Euro 400 per night, which I believe it does not worth it.

The main problem concerns the service. People working there are not interested at all to provide any service. They just spend their time. Another main issue is the cleaning of the room. We have returned one evening in the room finding the supposedly new linen dirty. We have called them in order to check it for themselves. They apologized and explained to us that they change the linen every day. It was our third day there and until that time they have never changed the linen. After that incident they changed it every day.

Another issue was the noise from a nearby bar. For those who need a good night sleep, try to avoid staying there . It is not every day but it seems that the weekends the music becomes louder.

Breakfast is quite good, and the views from the breakfast room are amazing. Also one person who is working there, unfortunately I do not remember his name, he is the only one who tries hard to serve the people.

Rooms are quite nice, we have stayed in Constas suite. This suite seems to have more windows than the rest, which we liked it a lot.

In general pls try to avoid this place. It does not worth the money you pay. Vladimir, the general manager must do something fast, otherwise it seems that he is not doing his job correct.

Santorini is a very beautiful island, you must visit it. We had very good time, definitely we will return, but not in this hotel.

Although we didn't actually book to stay in this hotel on Santorini (I have left a separate review for Notos Therme and Spa Hotel), we couldn't have asked for more than we got here. Lovely staff, who can't do enough for you and make the biggest effort to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Great food, great views and possible the best sunsets on the island.

We had a huge, beautiful, extremely comfortable and meticulously clean (cave) room. With a fabulous jacuzzi right next door. There aren't a lot of rooms but plenty of different sun terraces. The result? Total peace, quiet and relaxation. Especially as Pyrgos is a car-free zone.

For that reason only, I would not recommend Zannos for those that aren't light on their feet as there are lots of steps to get to hotel.

We were able to spend 4 great nights in the Zannos Melathron Hotel. It was so good, we didn't want to leave. The staff is extremely accommodating. You see the same faces all the time. It's like you're visiting their home. This hotel has a bed and breakfast feel to it even though the rooms are spaced nicely. Bring your walking shoes when you visit Zannos as it is up on a hill. They'll send a donkey for your luggage to get up the hill. Once you're up, the views are breathtaking. Zannos is close to Central Square where you can pick up the bus for Fira. Be sure to follow the white arrows on the ground, or you will get lost. We were going to rent a car, but decided to try the bus system instead and it was the right choice. We only had breakfast at Zannos, but they offer meals all day and we heard they were very good. We would definitely visit Zannos Melathron again.

Mesmerizing views. Staff could not be more helpful. Great rooms, excellent air conditioning, in-room bar, spa (massage therapist), pool, sunning areas. Manager (Vladimir) is a fount of information about great things to do (e.g., guided car with Vladimir, caldera catamaran cruise, etc.). Front desk (Betty) knowledgeable and helpful and terrific. Servers (Maria and Alex) are exemplary. Food is good, but menu is limited. Restaurant has a million dollar view. Since we were there for 10 days, we did have a special dinner arranged--outstanding fresh local fish, soup, etc.
Pyrgos is a lovely small village with nice restaurants and shops.

Room Tip: One note of caution. The hotel is at the top of a long, steep set(s) of stairs (hence the views...

We spent a lovely week at the very quiet and beautiful Zannos Melathron hotel. I share many similar comments to other reviewers - the pool is cold but very refreshing when you're in, there are lots of steps to go anywhere and there is a hotel donkey to take your luggage up and down to the town square - all very unique to this Hotel!. The staff were were really friendly and helpful (much more so than in other good hotels I have been to) and helped organise a hire car for us. We did end up with one of the "cave" rooms which did end up feeling a bit clammy but we couldn't be bothered to move rooms once we had noticed. The full restaurant food in the evening was unbelievably expensive so we did eat out at the local tavernas instead which is what we prefer anyway. I get the impression it is always a bit windy on this island so take something slightly warm to wear in the evenings. The spa is located in the vaults and was not my idea of a luxury retreat so I avoided that (& the jacuzzi was also freezing). Very amusingly different place!

Room Tip: Go for a room with windows:-)
