Fonte de Medici is a great agriturismo (see review), but we had some good and bad moments in their restaurants, where we ate four dinners and one lunch. During first two of our dinners and lunch, the food was very good four star level, but then the trouble started. The chef didn't seem to know how to cook a stake in a restaurant where they have "meat dishes" and "dishes without meat" in the menu for secondi.
On first of these nights my fillet was first grey and fully cooked (it was actually ment for someone else apparently), but the second edition was raw and cold. I needed to take the new stake back again to the kitchen to get the medium I ordered in the first place, but this didn't help very much, it was still pretty cold and raw, a cold "bleu".
On our last night we decided to share a Fiorentino. Same thing again: the first stake was fully cooked and totally inedible. I actually said I am against getting a replacement, because I thought it would come out totally raw and cold again and I didn't need the hassle, and we needed to get the kids to bed. Unfortunately this is exactly what happened, and we never got our Fiorentino, since we ran out of time and faith.
I hope we were just unlucky, because otherwise the food and the service were really good, and the waiters were very and apologetic for the whole incident. They also gave us very satisfying compensation for the dinner. It is still peek season why it's a bit weird to think they would have someone training in the kitchen. The views from this restaurant are just magnificent and the setting is very nice. We also had very good breakfast each morning in the restaurant.
