My wife and I stayed at the hotel on an Amazon Local deal. The hotel is undergoing some refurbishment but it did not affect us at all. The dinner that was part of the deal was so good that we booked for the following evening, again superb. The Welsh breakfast is also very good. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly.

Just such a comfortable place, well-supplied country house rooms - and brilliant, attentive, polite and efficient staff - thank you all. Not expensive, either. This was our second visit, but certainly not our last ..

Nice hotel, out in the country side.
Recently refurbished restaurant; other building activities still ongoing. Despite that we've had a very good and quiet stay.
Spacious rooms; unfortunately no desk in my room to work a little.
Food was tasty; only point for improvement was the temperature of the soup but when mentioned: problem was immediately sorted out.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. From the outside it looks beautiful as you drive up the sweeping entrance, and you enter the hotel. However there are some areas that look as if they need some TLC. Having said that the hotel does look as if it going through a refurbishment.
We stayed here for our Penderyn Whisky tour as it was easy for us to walk there and back. We couldn't check in when we arrived so we left our cars and then came back for lunch, which was a standard carvery - the serving station wasn't working so we had a meal bought to us. When we went to check in they didn't have our booking even though I booked through their website and paid in full. To be fair they found us some rooms and said they would investigate our booking. Our deluxe twin room was great, large, clean with freeview TV. Our friend's room looked like it was stuck in 1970's and was small, tired and really needed redecorating.
On the plus, the staff were really welcoming and helpful. I would stay there again, I believe they are on the right road to making it a beautiful place. One tip, I would phone and check my booking as they use a third party through their website and this was where the booking error occurred.

Room Tip: We booked a twin deluxe and we weren't disappointed. The standard double no. 6 was very tired.

I had a master class booked at Penderyn 3/5/14 & popped into this hotel for some breakfast. It was a hotel I had seen many offers for & was therefore curious about it. We were directed into the bar & we asked if we could have tea & toast. No problems we were told to help ourselves. We put a tea bag in a mug and collected the hot water from the machine. We were charged £4 for 2 cups of tea that we had to make ourselves. Rediculous would not have minded at all if we had been told to sit & were served the tea by the staff in a tea pot with hot water etc. As for the toast I spend 15 mins at the machine which delivered either burnt toast or toasted on 1 side only. In fairness the girl behind the counter offered to do some toast in the kitchen for us but we were now running late for our appointment so refused. We were charge £3 for the toast. Whilst the staff were friendly I felt customer service skills were lacking. The hotel seemed a little tired & there was nothing good about the experience which would tempt me to stay there. This is a shame as it is in a beautiful part of Wales & with some TLC could be a lovely hotel.

This was a Groupon gift from our Daughter for our 39th. Wedding Anniversary.Amongst beautiful surroundings we were warmly welcomed and given a room with 3 single beds and a double bed,it was LARGE to say the least.Bathroom was also on the large size with Bath/Shower,Toilet,Towel Radiator and all the usual Soaps and Gells. Tea/Coffee making facilities with biscuits.Free Wi-Fi.The bar was cosy and prices very reasonable. The food was awesome. We had Mushroom and Garlic soup to start, superb.Main course was the Rump Lamb and i can honestly say "it was the BEST lamb I've ever tasted".Many thank's to the Chefs. Finally the Cheese Board was enough to feed 2 people let alone 1.Staff are very efficient and friendly.Breakfast was just as good. The quality of the food, the friendliness of all the staff makes this Hotel hard to fault and we would definitely go back.Thank you Ty Newydd for a great stay.

Room Tip: Room 25,very spacious.
