“A little piece of heaven”

We visited The Dog House one Sunday evening. If you need a getaway from everyday life then this is it.
The location is so beautiful and coupled with the sunset was breath taking. Watching the sunset from the hot tub was a memory that I will cherish.
The Dog House itself is just gorgeous. It’s finished to perfection and the attention to detail from the owners was evident.
A welcome hamper on arrival with a card too from the owners showed us how much they really care that visitors enjoy themselves.
If you can tear yourself away from the Dog House and the hot tub then there are some amazing walks too. We didn’t to be fair this time, too mesmerised by the babbling brook and the idyllic setting.
Would recommend for a romantic break and a great place to book if you are in the Dog House!

“Absolutely fantastic place to recharge your batteries”

We were the first people to stay at The Dog House. We were originally trying to book Owl Lodge, another fantastic property owned by Jenny & Margaret, but unfortunately it was booked. Jenny offered us the Dog House, which had only just been refurbished.

We have stayed at well over 100 AirBnB's /Booking.com properties all over the world. We honestly review every property we stay at. This experience really started with excellent communication from Jenny prior to our arrival. As we were the first guests to stay at the Dog House, Jenny agreed we could arrive at 12.30pm. We were travelling by car having spent a week exploring the West Coast of Ireland. We arrived on time to be met by Jenny & Margaret, who greeted us like long lost friends. We were shown around the Dog House, all I could hear from my wife was the word WOW. The place has been restored to a very high standard. It was originally the Dog House set a short distance from the house which was the original shooting lodge.

The Dog House has everything you need to be self-sufficient, we stayed for two nights and cooked in both nights. The bed is super comfortable. The log burner is easy to light and heats the property up really quickly. One thing we didn't expect was a Swedish style hot-tub heated by a log burner. The water for the hot-tub is diverted from the stream next to the property. We have used hot-tubs on many occasions, the difficulty is always the smell of chlorine in the tub and the need for a shower after a dip, not with this hot tub, no chemicals are used. To bathe in pure water, heated by a log burner that you have stoked is quite simply fantastic.

The little extras to get you started make all the difference, milk, cider & pate. There were other goody's as well but I'm writing this as my wife is at work and I've forgotten (sorry).

If you are looking for a quiet romantic place to spend a few days to recharge your batteries......Look no further than the Dog House. Unusually for us we have already booked for another visit in October.

One thing worthy of note is: We saw Jenny & Margaret on the day we arrived and the day we left, all other communication during our stay was conducted by text. I don't wish to be mean, but this was absolutely perfect. I think what I'm trying to say is, the hosts are there if you need them, otherwise they leave you to get on with it.

Thanks Jenny & Margaret for a fantastic stay, already looking forward to our repeat visit..
