Popped into Doorsteps with my girls last weekend for a couple of lunchtime sandwiches.
There was a bit of a chaotic air to the place and the service was rather confused - although we finally got sorted after a couple of my options (off a very extensive listing of options on the board) couldn't be fulfilled for lack of ingredients.
As I told my server that I was sitting in - I looked for a table. There were some unoccupied tables but they all had debris on them so I had to clean up a table as best I could. Looking round there was just an untended / unclean / careless feel to the place. As I took a couple of plates and left them on a counter just inside the serving area I noted how messy the floor was (covered in sandwich filling debris) and how there was 'stuff' everywhere.
Have to say my bacon and brie sambo was spot on -so no problems there.
Then - my girls being only 3 - they always need the loo - so I was searching the place for their facilities - only to turn round and find the sofa we were sitting on was blocking the door to the loos. Disability access (indeed access generally?)anyone? So pull out the sofa - and gals went in - but no soap - no paper towels or hand dryer and again a unclean feel.
All round - it felt that on Disabilty access and H&S issues the place thought itself immune. I wondered how they passed inspections if that was their approach.
So whilst my appetite was sated I left with an uneasy feeling that this eatery was flouting basic cleanliness and regulations.
